View Full Version : Another sad day in our community

Just got informed on faceboook that one of my son's friend had hung himself, so it's gonna be a tough day at school. we don't know why, but that's the 3 death of school kids in our small close knit community. over the last 15 years. One can only ask why why, my boys said the boy was different to other kids, it seems sometimes the kids can't find someone to talk to, even if they can't tell their parents, or school councilers about their problems. We are just speechless

Terrible news,

beyond blue and many others (as seen in other threads) may be of help to your son and his mates....

Unfortunately there is a tendancy among younger people for one such incident to spark another, so be a bit wary of the possibility.

Its amazing that almost all bad news is being "released" via facebook etc. nowdays

Yes I hate face book, kids these days spend too much time on it.
Recently, we had once of my son's mates come over, his father is a mica paramedic, we parked his Mica car in our driveway to drop his son off. within an hour it was all over face book that there was an ambulance at our house so something must have happened. Talk about gossipy neighbourhood

Sorry to read that news.
How I wish we could turn the clock back for that family.

Seems it might have been an accident, the coroner will find out in the end . Everyone jumps on the band wagon on face book but not all the correct facts are told, a lot of hearsay.
A few years ago my mate's son hung himself, it was later revealed that he was playing a bad joke on his mother by pretending to be strung up from the pergola with a noose around his neck. Unfortunatley Ben had a problem where he would faint for no reason. It happend to him while he had the noose on and passed out and accidently killed himself.

Every child death is disturbing.
Whilst I was at school we all lived from 1st grade to last year of high school. One poor girl succumbed to cancer in year 9.
These days there a lot more deaths, deaths at one school alone,
push bike accident, cave in on a tunnel a kid was digging on a beach, car accident, getting hit by lightning, helping his father landscape, got killed by a dingo digger.
All very sad cases, it just makes you worry more everyday your kids go out, and thanks for when they come home safely.

Sadly it is very common for school age kids, particuarly males, that once one goes, over the next few years others will follow (some of these will be different grades/ages and may not have even known the original person).

I'm so sorry :( Headspace is another organisation that is for 12-25yr olds...not sure if that may help anyone affected by this tragedy :(

My son is finding it difficult at the moment, he's very snappy and angry at the moment. I have to tread lightly and watch what I say. This is the second friend he has lost. There is a lot of support from his peers, he went to councilling at school the next day. It will take time and patience.

I lost a friend to suicide when I was 13, she was 15...there is a lot of guilt that comes, a lot of questioning your own actions... doesn't change when you're older but at that age it was really hard for me to understand where my friend's mind was at.

It turned out apparently the kid was info photography and composed some weird photos. He chibed up a teee, had a noose on and was photographing himself reading a book with the noose around his neck. He slipped and it caused this tragic accident before school.

My condolences to all those involved.

Been thinking about what to say since I first seen you post several days ago. The best I can come with is that the words accident and suicide often go together.

Please PM me if you want to talk about what happened. Willing to share my own experiences if it can help you.
