View Full Version : TD5 130 wheels $ ?
gromit

I've been offered a set of 4 TD5 wheels off a 130. They sounded expensive but I wondered what the going rate was.
1 has a new Michelin (probably the original spare) and 3 have worn Michelins.
What would a guide price be ?
If I'm not interested, does anyone else want them ?

Just sold 5 rims on ebay a few weeks ago - $320. I expected a bit more.:( As they old saying goes, they are only worth what someone is willing to pay.

Thanks Sleepy,
So $600 is a bit too much then for 4 rims...........I'll tell him he's dreaming.

I was hoping to get $100 ea per rim, s'pose you can add a few bucks for one good tyre. I would think $100 per rim is a generous offer.

I understand your asking for advice here but to all others if this turns in to a buy and sell thread it will be deleted.

The 130 rims are not tubeless, 110 steels (Wolf type also) are tubeless. Tubeless are ususally worth more, but as already stated it is only worth what someone wants to pay:(

A new michelin zxl would be a few hundred dollars - so if its any use to you then the rims become a lot cheaper. What are the other tyres like?
Bought 5 steel rims (tubed wolf ex 130) and 5 michelin xzl tyres (1 new, 4 abt 70%) over ebay for $650 a year or two ago and thought it was quite a good buy.

Some people are just so tight.
New xzl's retail for $400 plus, the HD rims are 400 plus from land rover, 220 from the independents, so any one asking 600 bucks for 4/5 is really giving them away, plus new ones come in black only, there's a cost there too for painting.

I know, but all 130's delivered HERE seem to be with tubed, 110's usually with tubeless. (Or alloys)

Yes The XZL is a great tyre though. I would love some but in 255/85...Which they don't make:( (255/100 is almost 37")
I got my Wolf tubeless ex UK from our local supplier for $220 ea, as you mention came only in black primer. I had them painted in an early model Toyota Prado silver along with the bullbar at the same time which helped keep the $$ down a bit.(Panel shop was a bit slow and needed the work:))
Eventually I'll have the tyres fitted (255/85 BFG MT) and the bar on then the vehicle will be another step closer...:)

Not sure if you were refering to my post Juddy. I was just refering to ACTUAL price that I obtained on ebay for 5 rims. As I said, they are only worth what someone is willing to pay. Sure you can pay more _ I wish someone had of bid more for mine.:( I have seen a few dissapear on ebay for less than $100 per rim, so that appears to be what they are "worth".;)
As for one good XZL, yes great tyre but not worth as much if you are only buying one. (Unless you have 3 or 4 more good ones:)) Also worth checking the age of this tyre as I suspect it would be over 5 years old (unused spare?) , so not worth as much - even if unused.
Yes the list price is +$650 ea......are they worth that ? perhaps not.

"Hello
I am unable to give you an exact shipping quote as I would need to know the overall weight and dimensions of the parcel once packed. As a rough estimate, the carriage cost would be approx £465.00.

That's $710 AUD freight + $370 AUD for 6 rims = $1080 AUD

So , that's about $180/rim even though the freight is crazy!
Call Fred Smith Land Rover at Bayswater down in Melbourne.
He may do a similar price if not marginally better

I have four 16x8 rims being made in the UK at the moment - the courier cost to my door is £265.
Most items I have looked at buying from Paddocks seem to have a price premium on their shipping.

Ok Just looked it up.
I bought my rims from paddocks back in june.
£39.5 each x 6 = £237
shipping via TNT economy = £297
=£534 delivered.
I was first quoted £490.00 for shipping but after more enquiries, it came down.

"I am unable to give you an exact shipping quote as I would need to know the overall weight and dimensions of the parcel once packed. As a rough estimate, the carriage cost would be approx £465.00."
I pressed the point with Paddocks as follows
"Thanks Tom. I am a serious buyer, but the freight is the killer here. I
can't proceed based on the previous quote.
The dimension are 6 boxes at 49*48*28 @ 16.2kg per rim. So all up
assuming stacked 6 high its
49*48*168cm @ 97.2kg total
Assuming 2 lots stacked 3 high each
49*48*84cm @ 48.6kg each
Any chance of a more specific quote based on that?
Regards etc"
I got the following (turse?) reply indicating no budging on freight.
"There would be 3 parcels of two wheels. Each parcel would weigh approx 32kg each. This is what we quoted on. Would wouldn't be able to quote on 2 x 3's as the overall dimensional weight would be too large for the couriers.
Regards, etc"
I just wish I knew someone in the UK as Paddocks would deliver to them for free and then they could freight to me at cost.
Could I organise my own courier to pick up from Paddocks? I have no experience of booking couriers and certainly not for international delivery.

being as though paddocks will not frieght for what your happy with, have you thought about sourcing the wheels through somsone else?
Paddocks are not the only major land rover parts supplier in the UK. they will all have their own courier deals

I just checked with some of the shipping companies I use.
Best quote I could find on the 2 parcels... using 50kg as the weight of each but the sizes as above Fedex express quoted 447pounds
cheapest across 3 was 460 pounds.
Bearing in mind if you had an address in the UK you would also need to pay VAT their quote for shipping doesnt seem that bad. (although i agree it is a lot of money!)

get your hands on a land rover UK magazine from someone and have a look through...
but you have
John Craddocks
MM4x4
Matt Savage
Famous Four
Dingo croft
DLS
British Parts
Rimmerbros
There are heaps and heaps!! they may not do the wheels your after but you wont know unless you look. My main point is everyone always thinks paddocks and yes generally they are one of the cheapest
But they are not the only ones...
Actually I just did a brain fart and thought of billing and their exhibitors and though why not just post the exhibitors list that would give you a good idea of some of the people around..as a number of them always attend billing

I have received a quote from JOHN CRADDOCK LTD and they offer the option of sea freight. For six rims it says
"sea freight to nearest port only 195.00" pounds.
Melbourne would be the nearest port. How does this work, do freight companies have warehouses at the dock where you can collect your goods or something?
Am I likely to get slugged with additional charges at the receiving port? (The total value of the goods is less than $1000 AUD so should have to pay GST)
I have asked John Craddock Ltd the same questions, but was hoping someone here would have some experience with collecting goods from the Melbourne port that have come by sea freight.
