Wiring winch to D4

One for the techy guys,
I have an optima 2nd battery and Traxide system, want to wire winch
Do I connect direct to main battery or aux battery and does the negative go to that battery or the neg stud ?
(have heard connect all negs to stud on D4 3lt)

When I fit my winch I will connect power to the main battery and earth to the body or chassis somewhere. The alternator will provide more current than the circuit breaker and cables to my aux battery can withstand so by using the main battery, it wont be discharged so much during winching if the engine revs are kept up a little.

Mine's wired to the main battery and earthed to the "stud" ... works a treat.
