Heard from one of the teachers that school is getting one next year . they've made room in corner of the workshop to fit the said machine. amazing that the bean counters have granted the funds to purchase one.;):eek:

It would be nice if it is a Mazak, it have a very nice control which it is fun to programing.

Hi Chucaro;

I'm not sure which Brand of manufacture it is, 2 of the older machines have been moved out and floor has been painted to make room. There is a quite a bit of room freed up for new C&C machine which Herin and Forbes are supplying . I was speaking to one of the teachers and happend to mention to him that i am very much looking forward to starting the C&C training next year hopefully when I complete the current training.

If it is supplied by Herin and Forbes then chances are that it is a Doosan lathe perhaps aLynx model.
I never have done service on them so I cannot tell you how good are.

A mate has a CNC machining centre in his shed. He restores BMW motor cycles and made a tricycle based on Citroen 2CV running gear. His current project is another trike using a Moto Guzzi engine.

Used CNC gear sold at auction is getting cheap enough to have one at home. Tooling is a big expense.
