Hi All,
LWB 61 Series 2 Ute.
Trying to remove the rear shocks - have new replacement ones, but having a devil of a time removing the old ones.
The car is on axle stands - the stocks are not under load. Wheels are off.
I removed the top nut/bolt - tight but got it off.
Can't budge the bottom nut. Any suggestions?
I have sprayed it with wd40 - but it's locked on tight.
I thought about putting the top bolt/nut back in - because the shock is twisting when I try to undo the bottom nut.
I thought about using a grinder/cutting disc and cutting the actual shock - at the lowest point of the shock, on top of the bracket that the shock sits in.
Thoughts? Ideas?
As always - any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
The Grey Ghost

Pipe clamp, stilsens or big set of multigrips. Either way the shock is going so it doesn't matter. If you can get a hacksaw in behind the mount, that should work. Further up the shock ( as in where a grinder can get at ) might be messy. I last saw these at Supercheap $20.

I removed rusty old shocks recently and had the same problem. I cut the nuts with an angle grinder and tidied the thread with a wire brush on the grinder. New nylocks and all OK.
