One of the blokes at work (son of a member on here) just bought one at the auction in Perth. He won the bid at $19K - but ended up having to pay the reserve of $21K to collect the vehicle. It is a 110 2 door hard top, with about 48,000km on the clock.

I saw 4 in a holding yard in adelaide last sunday, and there were only two left yesterday!

The same ones I saw on trading post plus a couple more are also on car sales. All with around mid to high 40k on them. I also think this is a joke.:wacko:

Jeeze, do your army blokes actually use them ? The condition of those is a *little* better than the ex-army Landies that Witham's flog off at home :p

You could say that, but in honesty they're very well maintained (even though they don't look it). By the time they get to Withams they're usually worn out, although they do get a fair number of serviceable vehicles through there.

I used to work for a water company in the UK, the garage services there also maintain any vehicles from the local army base that the army guys didn't have time to sort themselves. There's always a Landy or 2 in being serviced / fixed (along with other vehicles) and to be fair, apart from the visible condition being a bit ropey, mechanically they're always in tiptop condition. They have to be.

The army do have a habit of drowning them though, many a vehicle has been in their having a new engine dropped in after they've tried to drive across a flooded river with it. I remember one Mercedes Sprinter van had 3 engines one winter after we had some pretty bad flooding in Herefordshire, they did persist in trying to take it where really they should've been using a boat :p
