Gday All,

Has anyone got any pics of where they have positioned any extra 12v sockets they have fitted in the rear of the D3/D4.

Done a search but had 17 pages to look thru and after 6 gave up.

Thanks in Advance.

Cheers Ean

Hi Ean,
I installed the additional 12v socket in the removable panel which has audio controls in the models with high-ICE. The advantage is that the replacement panels are cheap. Another advantage is that the socket sticks up - so is not bumped by objects in, or intruding into - the load space.

BTW - I took out the panel with socket from my old D3 and am about to install in my D4. Need to install the aux battery setup first.

I installed 2 on the drivers side opposite the factory 12v outlet and one additional one next to the factory 12v outlet these are connected to the auxillary D34 Optima battery up front.
All have fuses fitted which are behind the drivers side rear access panel.
One plug on the drivers side is for the Engel fridge.
I actually have now converted the other one on the drivers side plugs to a light switch which operates my array of LED lights around my tailgate window.
They work really well to light both the back of the car and the surrounding area.

Sorry no pic but I mounted mine on the drivers side of the cargo bay where the side panel has an indent. The socket is a single and is surface mounted in a plastic(what else) shroud. The outlet faces to the rear so it (and the plug when in use) doesn't impact on the load space.

Hi Ean,
I have installed 1 socket either side of the original 12V socket in the rear, as per photo. Both of these extra sockets are connected to my second battery. As well as this, I have connected the one at the rear of the centre consol, and the front drivers side one, to the second battery as well.

How did you get to the back of the panel? I have had a quick look and it all seems to be filled with something so I can't get to the back of it.
TIA
Ivan

Hi Ivan,
it was actually my auto electrician that did the work. If you want more info, please PM me and I can pass on their details.
Cheers, Craig

This should show you enough info on how to remove the side panel:

Yes it for fitting the towbar storage kit but you will get the gist. :)
