Hi,
during my week-end trips in the country, I find many interesting Land Rovers that I would like to post pictures of.
To start I found this SIII used during summer to water newly planted trees for a reforestation project and during winter to deliver diesel for heating.

What type of trees are they using for the reforestation project ?
I see that Series 3, has it's working clothes on.

Mainly from the existing Mediterranean essences, pine trees, stone pine, kermes and holm oak, juniper.
The deforestation is mainly due to fire.

I met this couple with their children last spring on a mountain road leading to a Ski resort.
The vehicle is a stage one ex fire brigade. The seats are of a Range Rover.
P.S. Note the Air horn fixed on the roof above the Driver.

It has been raining for the last three days, when the sun came out again it was an invitation to a short trip to the mountains. I found those chaps refurbishing what seemed a SII or SIII. They were unable to identify the series, all they knew is that they were working on a Land Rover.
The shed is to have the front end covered by an awning.

Hello Grumbles,
thank you for your comment it helps to keep on searching for land rovers in Lebanon.
Indeed Lebanese people are aficionados of the marquee, that is why they keep them in good shape.
Like this red 2 doors range rover that has been fitted with quiet large tires.
Note the quality work that has been done to shorten the roof.

No offense intended Lebanon. Just the impression that there seems to be a lot of modified Landys getting around on your roads compared to here as well as a good selection of 'rough' examples that are on the road. Vehicles that wouldn't get past the first cop if they were on the road here.

There no offence Grumble. I was just asking to understand what modification could have caught your attention.
Your impression is a 100% correct, I could give you many examples on that. On another hand we have many rules that are funny, for example a car will fail its annual MOT if it is fitted with extra driving light or rear working light, yet you could easily fit them for the rest of the year without having any trouble with the cops. It has become a yearly activity to uninstall them before the MOT to re-install them an hour later.

You are right mate, it is a normal SIII with its original engine, when I stopped to check it, the owner was starring at my 110, it shows that he would have liked a true 110 but since they are very rare in Lebanon he did the face-lift. Puma's are not sold because they are only available with the TD5 (The MOT only registers cars running on petrol to reduce large particle emission pollution)

All car manufacturers are present, European, American, Korean and Chinese. I will try to take a picture of a parking so you could see the diversity. Yet Mercedes, BMW, Toyota, Honda are the most sought-after. On the 4x4 register you have the plethora of soft-roaders (Rav4, CRV, Terrano....) and the large ones mainly Mitsubishi Pajero, Toyota Prado,.... As for Land Rover they are very present on the road with the Range Rover, Discovery and Evoque.
Most of these rarely venture off-road, they are considered as posh cars.

thanks for sharing all these photos lebanon. Great to see what goes on elseware in the world with our much loved landies! and just seeing different scenery and mods. cannot believe diesel isnt allowed for civilians over there! I always thought it was the greener fuel type as better economy, and i think its a by product of something, cant remember. maybe thats gas? I even thought emissions were greener unless they are the un serviced smokey engines. It looks like none of your cars really rust over there. Even the old ones that look to have sat around for a long time dont seem to rust too much. Look forward to the next installment of photos :)

Found one of the rare 90 sitting next to Range Rover
This is an early model but the work that has been done is very nice.
Note the dripping axle, most probably a axle cap problem.

Looks okay to me. In fact, I like most of the Landies and Rangies in this thread. The creativity is refreshing because I'm surrounded by Toyotas all with the same accessories and you'd start to think that that's all anyone could buy.
Funnily enough, I was thinking of making the exact same ladder as that one above.

Indeed it is a great little machine, but I got the chance of driving one, we were off- roading at 2,500 m above sea level when I had to help a lady drive her Lada up on a steep hill she was afraid to tackle. Mate, this car has no power at this altitude, it took me seven to eight attempts to climb that hill, always loosing engine torque and momentum at the 3/4 of the climb.
Back to the 110 I climbed the hill first time.

Here you can modify the car the way you like it as long as it passes the MOT.
The MOT consists of verifying the gas emissions, brakes, electrical system, suspension, tires, fuel system..

The owner is a real enthusiast, he has rebuilt his series with the help of his father some four years ago.
He told me that they found a bullet still stuck in the chassis, a proof of the military past of his car.
Note this tiny winch, never seen something similar before.
P.S It seems that they they didn't find the clear lens for the front end so they replaced with the available Red lenses they had. :)
