View Full Version : Why I am not very active at the moment.

I don't know if it has been noticed, but I have not been very active on the forum for the last few months.
Just so people don't worry about me (as if that would happen!) I thought I would explain why.
For starters I am now self employed. This means I am usually working around 50 - 60 hours a week, if I don't come in on weekends. If I do come in on the weekend then it is obviously more.
The other reason is pictured below.

She is our first child, born in the early hours of October 25th. Sleep is now a luxury!

Congratulations, now remember that money comes second to the family.
When you have the chance go easy at work and be with you family. They are precious times now that you cannot recuperate with money.

Self-employed? Does that mean we now have a competent Land Rover Specialist in the Horsham district?
Congratulations to you and your wife - a precious time for you both. :D:D

Afraid not, I have moved back to SA. I just can't remember how to change my details!

Congrats Big Jon. Hope the move to SA has been good for business as well as the family! Hope the mrs is able to get some teaching work too when she's ready.
Don't work to hard mate! My family sometimes don't let me in the door cos they tell me I've taught them not to open the door to strangers!
Enjoy the new family and business!

Back to swinging spanners again. Given up the mining exploration work, SWMBO is much happier now I am home every night instead of away for up to a month at a time.

Congrats Big Jon and ...err Mrs Big Jon??!!(sounds wrong!)
and (as Darky said) welcome back!
The few things I was told that I believe are priceless when we had our kids...
*- put bubs in a noisy room to sleep (radio on or something) then they'll sleep magnificently no matter what noise is going on!
*- when bubs sleeps, mum sleeps, end of story!
*- Infants friend, few drops (all natural) they burp, they fart THEY SLEEP
(wife wishes she could get some for me!) comes from Chemists
*- Royal Adelaide Womens and childrens hospital teething gel.... when its time
grab this stuff and hold it tight, only avail at the hospital foyer, abt $5 a bottle (IIRC) but fantastic...
*- lots of photos, lots of video, keep it all, store it safely... we all love photos pics etc of when we were kids especially with mum/dad rels etc in it too!..
*- tell people who tell you their baby tips to bugger off!!!!:D:twisted::p
*- Organise drinks to wet babys head at the Edinbugh Hotel!!! :)
Congrats Mate! (too late to warn you the first nappy change is a tar buster!)
Glad your "back"...
Enjoy every minute!

Definitely agree with Digger.
1. Get some teething gel from the WCH, it is GOLD!!!! Go buy a couple of tubs, there is a limit, then make sure you restock before it runs out and you're left with a horror night to add to all the other horror nights! My wife plans weeks in advance to do a trip into the WCH just to get the gel when we run out.
2. Tell everyone that gives you advice on how to look after your baby to go............. yeah well you get the picture! :)
