Driving back from middle of nowhere
Got to beenleigh and had trouble changing gear
Tried agaiin nup very notchy. Drove/coasted fee hundred metres to a servo.

Seems it's dropped the oil from the gearbox
Cross your fingers for me there's no permanent damage!

I needed this like a hole in the head at the moment. Financials are tight. Medical appointments to go to tomorrow etc

Only just had my licence and car back for one day !!!

Hi VladTepes

Sneaky oil escapes in the night !
All Land Rover Owners are warned to be on the lookout for the tell tale signs of spots on the concrete.

If any oily puddles are found do not approach, as this is one slippery character and could cause a dirty mark if touched.

The sooner oil is contained in back in the box it escaped from, the other inmates of the box, will then quieten the gnashing of their teeth.

Cheers Arthur

If you've only had the car back for one day, where has it been?

Would the oil have been drained and then forgotten to have been topped up while there?

Was fluid rather than oil the master cylinder had failed as well. Don;t know whether or how these could be connected but....

Another excuse to out in an auto and I have neither the time nor cash.

Vlad - sounds like the clutch hydraulics have failed. A new clutch MC and slave cyl will set you back $100 +brake fluid and about an hour's labour

I went really stingy and put a kit through my clutch master cylinder (similar to Defenders), cost $15.00 and brakes feel really good. It's easy too.

Typically it's worse than that.

One would hope a clutch master kit wouldn't affect the brakes :D:D:D:D:D

Typically it's worse than that.

More details? The symptoms you have described do not sound like the clutch/pressure plate are buggered.

Even if they are buggered, you can nurse a slipping clutch for quite a while if necessary.
