Bought my FL2 brand new, I love it. And it does get used offroad a bit and is amazing what is can do....well that was until this past w/end. After 3 days in the dealer, they have told me the computer (EMS/ECU whatever you call it) has failed as it is not sending a msg to fire up.
Has any other FL2 owner had to replace their computer???
I find it annoying that after only 4 years I've had to do this. And they are unable to determine why this has happened. With a major service due as well...this is going to be a costly experience!

Sorry to hear it. I have been reading the FL2 forums for 3-4 years and not come across it before. However, 2007 models are the oldest and it would be just happening to them now if it is a problem. What sort of dollars are they putting on the units? Also, petrol or diesel? Barring the rear diff problems some have, they have been pretty trouble free.

Hi ya I get one of the first batch in. Tho I would like to think that 4 years old is not an old car. Its going to cost $1000 for the ECU, they are not charging me for the labour to install it. Mine is the diesel and I've been pretty much trouble free, only had a couple of sensor issues which have just needed resetting, not replacing, it tends to happen when I go bush, with loads of dust or mud. I'm now thinking if this is classed as an old car will this happen regularly and what else is going to go wrong. I was hoping for at least 7 years of good running with her before I changed again.
Thanks for your reply

Mine is an 08 model diesel and I have had the diff problem sorted which also required a new Haldex unit but I think that was their error in rebuilding the diff. I have 115K on the clock now and go off road a lot without any of the sensor issues. I agree that 4 years is not old for the ecu...maybe they should try a mac version? :) I saw your thread on FreeL2 and there were good suggestions about corroded terminals.

Mine had the same problem 3 years ago. Lucky was under warranty at that time.
It just won't start up once in a while. What I did when it happen:
1. Remove the key and put it back in
2. Press the start button without press the brake pedal.
3. Wait until ECU ready
4. press start button to start the engine.
If engine won't start, repeat 1 again. Otherwise, it won't start no matter how many time I press the start button.
Mine are first batch FL2 as well.
