Differences between 130 cab chasis and HPCU?

Hi was wondering what the differences were between the 130 crew cab chasis and high capacity pickup is it just the body on the back, is there any heavier duty chasis or suspension on the rear for hcpu?

As far as I know "High Capacity Pick Up" is just the name given to the rear tub body. No difference in chassis or suspension to the cab chassis variant that I know of.

I don't believe there are any differences either. The HCPU has a couple of extra brackets at the front of the tub, but they just unbolt from the chassis.

This is the title given to the units that are able to carry/handle more weight,, It consists of upgraded suspension and steel wheels, and thats it.

All three Defender models are 100% the same accross their many different individual variants. All 130's regardless of body style is capable of carrying the same weight as the next one, if you could physically fit it in. the same with all 110's and all 90"s (although a single sheep tends to fill the tub of a 90 UTE :D)

HCPU only refers to the volume and not to any additional carrying ability. Regular Defender rear tubs have continuous "wheel boxes" exactly like a 110 SW. (In fact it is the exact same rear tub). HCPU were designed to carry larger volumes of the same weight and have small wheel arches like you would find on a Hilux, Triton or Ranger to facilitate this volume increase.

can't find the .pdf on line, but a quick squiz at mine shows them almost the same except for obvious things like weight and the HCPU gives a tray length.

Having just looked at buying one, (Monday), the salesman told us the options which make it an HCPU, (which it seems you can do to all models, 90[?]) and we decided against it because we didn't like the steel wheels, and figured we dont need the extra capacity. We can fix the capacity problem, if it turns out to be one, with aftermarket suspension.
