Before the mods reach for the delete or merge button. I think the larger Aulro community have followed the Army Land Rover auctions with interest, and I think it is worthwhile running a thread so we can keep tabs.
Most of the threads (yes there were plenty:o) were merged into http://www.aulro.com/afvb/remlr-general/57704-perentie-land-rover-disposal-program.html and then recently the thread was closed. Obviously the REMLR got a bit "bored" with all the interest. ;) It was one of my favourites threads. :(
Personally I would love a Perentie or one of the recent Defenders.( Quite liked the Canter too. :wasntme:) Not sure I could afford the divorce. Nonetheless I have an interest in, and enjoy learning about, these special vehicles :)
So, Comrades & Mods, is a new, more general, Army Disposal thread worthwhile? May we keep it here rather than bore the REMLR guys?
Discuss.

I am interested in an ex army series lll and I did recently see that there was an auction at Manheims. Id have loved to be able to go but couldn't so any information/discussion would be really helpful to me. Im interested in converting to a soft top if it comes down to it so if anyone is doing that and they need an assistant/apprentice let me know. Then I could pass the info/skill along. Anyway, I used to have a 1968 series lll which was stolen and I'm ready to do it all again. So it's a yes from me.

G'day lalaland,
Plenty of ex army S3's appear from time to time. You can use the Markets section and place a wanted ad. :) :)

Sounds like a good idea to me, as long as we can keep to the facts......:wasntme:

Yeah i'll be following this thread with interest. An army 110 would make a good parts car for my County!

The problem was, Sleepy, the thread became utterly ludicrous.
People were making some outrageous unsubstantiated statements.
It was a very popular thread with me and I was thinking of starting a "Perentie" thread in the REMLR private chat area with certain conditions i.e. anything statement not backed up with evidence presented gets deleted and Perentie info only. I might yet do that.
And When are you joining REMLR? You can you know. It's free as well!

Maybe the soapbox is a better place then!

Yes it did go off track a bit. I was hoping the old thread would evolve into a "Look I bought one" thread and we could see them close up. I am also champing at the bit (as are many) to see the real ones come on the market. (Maybe I could risk that divorce:whistling:)
The auctions are attracting a lot of interest - numerous people at work asking me about them. So I guess this was more of a gas-bag thread than a serious analysis of the vehicles.

Good point. I thought it was mainly for AUS mil vehicles.

Good idea till the peanuts get involved
By all means chatter away but idont be surprised if it goes to **** in no time flat because the peanuts need to know every one elses business and will be back to espousing their esteemed knowledge of nil
Sorry but i have my pessimistic nappy on today.....

The guys at work were telling me there was an article on the auctions in the Drive section of Saturdays Age.
The guys at work were telling me I was missing out on the Perenties as they were being sold now.
"They're Td5's." I said.
"They're green." they replied.
Yes Inc. It's a well worn nappy.

There are two TD5's for sale in a car yard near Mascot airport, overpriced IMHO.
