Has anyone put additional 12v sockets in the dash area of their RRS? If so where?

I was thinking inside the top glove box but am not sure what lives behind it (passenger airbag?) or at the back of the little cubby that the optional Sat Nav screen lives in above the radio. Again not sure what lives behind.

I would appreciate any suggestions - dash area only - happy about the rear seat area and the rear luggage area.

Thanks

Garry

Hi Garry - I put an extra power socket in the upper glovebox in my D3. Powered from an unused outlet from the fusebox - which is behind the lower glovebox. I'm guessing there is a similar setup in the RRS, as it is basically the same car with an uglier body!:wasntme:

So did you install it on the back face or on the side. If on the back face what lives behind it?

I will let the other comment go to the keeper ;).

I actually drilled a 1" hole in the back of the upper glovebox - and ran +ve lead from the fusebox, and a -ve cable to the ground lug behind the passenger kick panel, into a power socket which was just loose in there. I also tapped into the aux audio input behind the kick panel and had an iPod adapter powered by the power socket. Cable-tied both together and had my iPod wrapped in foam and cable-tied - out of prying eyes.

There is a gap behind the top glovebox - but I never measured it. If you lower the bottom glovebox, you can stick your head in there and take a look. I reckon you could probably fit one on the back - if you get a suitable designed on and put it in the right spot. There was also an alloy dashboard frame behind there - you'd want to make sure it cleared that!

If it is like the D3 pull off the passsenger side vent and you can see how much space there is. Plenty of toom on the left and enough behind on the D#. The right is too close.
