I have just received a free gift of a New Toy, an series 3, 88 inch Bronze Green Land-rover, open with no hood or hard top.

Of course you will never see me driving it, it is a 1/148 scale model in "N gauge,"

So AUSFREE, I do take back the times when I smiled at the idea of some AULRO members playing with Toy scale model Land-Rovers.

It is from a brand called "Oxford," series "Oxford Commercials."

and it is minute. You almost need a microscope to see its number plate.

just looked at it, it is die-cast. Oh, and the 76 year old guy who gave it to me as a present, got it when visiting Sydney in the Queen Victoria Building near Townhall.

You'll probably find its a Series 1 88", seeing as Oxford don't make a Series 3 in 1:148th scale ;)
Hobbyco have a great range :)

I just wish someone would make a decent Series 2 or 2a diecast model! There are plenty of Series 1 and 3s, and coil sprung Landies are easy to find too. There's an out of production 1:43 Series 2a that was made with a modified series 1 tooling, so it has the wrong width, length, truck cab roof and a bunch of other problems too.

it is so minute I recon that one will need a microscope to see much of it, but I will try to get photos.

Reason I thought it was a series 3 is that the headlights are out on the front guards, which means it cannot be a Series one Land Rover, and cannot be an early Series 2. Hence I said it was a Series 3.

Ironically you systematically worked out the series of your model instead of relying on blind faith to tell you it is in fact a Toyota FJ40;)

I had another look at it, it is probably a series one, definately not a series 3.

what I thought was a headlight was a square number plate, and with a magifier you can even read that number plate.

Though I had thought that it was only about 3/4 of an inch [19 mm] long, it is about 24 mm long bumper to bumper, and is 11 mm wide, so it is very small.
