Disc stuck in Subaru CD Player

The wife's Subaru Impreza CD player has swallowed a disc and won't give it up :(

She had ejected it to swap and whilst concentrating on the road it grabbed it back in before she could get it.
Since that time it won't eject and we can hear the drive trying to eject but not catching.

Any secrets on how to get it out

Generally speaking if you remove the unit and then remove the mechanism from the unit you should be able to press on the release lever and manually wind the eject motor and the CD will pop out.

It is a fairly simple process and if you know what to look for it will take you longer to remove the unit from the dash than to get the CD out.

Happens to mine occasionally (not Subaru just aftermarket) and I have a blank cd that I put in with the stuck cd, keeping hold othe blank cd so
It doesn't go in all the way so I can pull it out and it either unjams the disk or creates enough pressure for the eject rollers to work or just tricks the computer into doing the right thing. Has worked so far. ;)

If it is a in-dash CD stacker, go easy with anything you do to it. The internals are marvels of modern clockwork engineering. I don't remember any trick to forcing an eject sequence. You may have to resort to removal and gentle disassembly.

For info, I had to replace the face on my 6 stack in-dash / tape player in an '04 Forester and Subaru wanted 3k (yup, $3,000 :eek: ) for a genuine replacement unit and would not supply the face on its own.
