I'm specifically referring to running on gas only at the moment, obviously it will have a purpose when running on petrol.

I wondered if it does anything to use the choke for cold starts when starting on gas? The choke is below the gas ring so choking would not only restrict air flow but gas flow too.

Just curious...

The important part is the fast idle. Set the fast idle cam so it comes on early in the choke pull then you don't choke the air flow and still maintain a higher idle speed.
