Wife just arrived home after a trip down the shops and the Disco 4 is displaying restricted performance - gearbox fault, service required.
Vehicle has done less than 9,000km but had its health check service a few weeks ago.
I have had the restricted performance message once prior when towing.
Question is has anyone else had this issue
AND
Should I try to drive it to Port Melbourne over the west gate bridge for service - we are in Williamstown?
Thanks

Switch it off and leave it off until the park brake light goes out and then turn it back on and the odds are that the fault will be gone.

Hi Garry,
Yep tried that as this is how I got rid of the previous error when towing. I did tell them when it was serviced at MLR and they stated they saw the error logged but tested as per LR directions and no continuing issue. This seems different however.

Ok - disconnect both battery cables from the battery and once disconnected touch the +ive lead to the -lead. This switches off all the ECUs etc and drains any residual voltages - this essentially reboots all the computers.
Reconnect the leads and start up - if the error is still there then you need professional help.

Did the fault coincide with the suspension dropping into access mode ?

Hmm.. this is a Disco 4 - so still under warranty... and you're asking the experts here for diagnosis? I suggest you pick up the phone and place a call with LR Assist and get the beast towed to be fixed - or whatever they suggest.

If you do this do not forget to wait the required time. It's marked on the wing near the main battery. I think it's 2 minutes at least. If you do not wait the required time you will really bugger something up.

Warranty job - Call LRA!

FWIW - There are a number of things that can cause restricted performance but you should still be able to drive... Albeit, restricted!

The latest thing I've seen cause restristed performance on a D4, is the manifold & actuator where the flow from the 2x turbos join. This can get caked in mud and when it does, the actuator can't operate properly and then it goes into restricted performance mode.
