View Full Version : Interesting and sad Day Today

We took a little trip out to Blacktown, to have a look at an Amarok, just to see what they were like, maybe have a drive, so Nessie is now the proud owner of a brand new 2011 VW Amarok Limited Edition, Natural Grey, rear sports bar, dual zone climate control, rear locker, window tint, 6 speaker stereo, black bumpers, fog lights.

To say she is chuffed, is an understatement:banana::burnrubber:

The sad part, the Disco is now gone, traded in on the Amarok:o:cry::BigCry::BigCry:

I am really going to miss this car, she has taken us halfway around Australia, never let us down whenever we have toured this great land, towed our camper everywhere we wanted to go, done the tuff stuff and taken us to work:(

Goodbye old friend:spudnikwaving:

Oh, here ya go, the ROCK

They're definitely starting to attract some serious interest. I was looking at this one in Albany a few days ago.

Well ............. Albany Volkswagen is right next door to Albany Landrover

Also saw a nice dark metallic green one in the main street of Albany while we were there.

I'm definitely very impressed with them and thinking seriously of buying one myself. At the moment, tossing up between one of these, a D4 and possibly a Defender. I like the D4 but the small fuel tank and limited range is probably going to knock it out of consideration for me - can't even make it from Kalgoorlie to Perth on a single tank - the D2 I have now does it easily. I've read that the Amarok has a touring range of around 1,000 km.

BM...

Just cannonballed my new D4 from Melbourne to Whyalla.

Averaged 9.0l/100km

Considering Kal to Perth is 600km it is a shoe in.

They are selling extremely well, so well that Trivett VW are moving to larger premises, there were 2 others sold that day as well.

did you send the disco off with the winch?

Yes sorry Lou, the bullbar and winch were part of the deal, they didn't want us to remove them.

We were thinking of dropping by Erich, but it was late and we wanted to get home and start removing stuff from the Disco.

We haven't picked it up yet, it's getting detailed and having it's pre-delivery stuff done as well as rego transfer, will be picking it up in a week or so, along with another new steed;)

Sad to see that Disco gone Baz, those Amarok's are a great bit of kit.
Awesome economy, great engine, well laid out, good price and a decent tub you can actually use - enjoy!:D

Yes I have a customer trade his Defender in on one due to increased comfort needs for touring etc. He is quite tall and is VERY happy with it. I like the look of them, even one of our local dealer salesman has offered one to me to test over a weekend:eek:

Good choice Baz.:)

Not yet:). I would like to see the engines in 300,000km time. The Toureg V6 and V10 engines I have heard have a few issues with excessive EGR 'buildup' etc requiring disassembly and cleanout, rather like the ZD30 etc etc.
The Td5 on the other hand is great powerplant, frugal, powerful and longlasting so it remains to be seen how this modern VW engine stacks up.

Shouldn't that "Maybe" be in extra large font Baz?

How do you think the Amarok would go with John's 26' fifth wheeler?

MAYBE:cool:

I would never put anything like that fifth wheeler behind any dual cab, that's just asking for trouble!!

OK, so yesterday we took everything off the car, we left the roof racks, bullbar, winch, dual battery system and Aux battery, antenna and UHF in the car.

This morning coming to work, not a bloody sound from the car, no rattles at all:eek: pretty darn good considering it's age.

I had a similar experience recently Baz when I had to unload most of the camping gear that 'lives' in the Defender - also noticed that it performed like it had been chipped once I unloaded quite a bit of weight. :D

i love my baby vw

you need to work a vw diesel ocassionally to blow the soot out of them esp if they have that particulate filter, or use CEM FTC (http://www.costeffective.com.au/show_product.php?ItemId=25) in them.

i have 48k up on mine and it has been the best new vehicle i have ever owned.

Hi Baz, did you remove your locker - do you need a diff ?

BTW, I can now ditch all those silver panels :D:D:D - The trade in was a nice move, you didn't really feel like swapping another rear quarter etc etc ?
