View Full Version : 'Accessory' function on D4 ignition?

Received my MY12 D4 yesterday. Love it.
Irritating to find when turning off the engine, all the accessories shut down too which is a shame if you want to sit and listen to music with engine off. The entertainment system can be turned on again but it sucks to have to do this as it takes a few seconds to boot up again. Is there a way around this?

Also, as noted in previous posts, the voice activation does not work (I dont have sat-nav), instead pressing this button turns the whole phone/ entertainment / display system off. Has anyone else had this? Obviously it is wired to something!

Not that I've found.

I turned the ignition off whilst on the phone and then remembered that the audio goes off, so turned the audio back on to continue the phone call. However I'd forgotten that the audio doesn't turn off during a phone call so actually killed the call myself. I really only wanted to stop the engine and leave accessories powered but life isn't so simple with keyless ignition.

Not sure if you know this, but all you need to do is push the on button to the stereo without the accessories on, the system will power up on a timer then turn off, it will also turn off when low battery voltage is detected.

Thanks Sniegy, yep I had worked that one out.
Tombie, ok yes I may be whining about nothing, but I'm a cricket freak, mainly thinking of the summer of cricket coming up!
Ideally:
1) pull into the garage, kill the engine (radio stays on). 2) listen to the last few balls of an over. 3) leg it inside, kiss her-indoors and ankle-biters, grab a cold beer, find the remote, plonk onto the couch in time to catch the start of the next over on tele.
With push button ignition I either need to leave the engine running or else risk missing a crucial wicket whilst the sluggish English electrons in the entertainment unit of the new D4 muck about starting the radio up again. Imagine if you had missed 'that ball' (Warne to Gatting)!

Maybe idle in the garage until the over is done & dusted. Will give the turbo a chance to cool down as well.

I found it a pain in the arse the first time I went to the drive-in. Every 10 minutes or so, the radio would go off and you would have to climb back into the front to turn the radio back on.
I wised up and took a portable radio and plugged it into the 12 volt socket that runs off the second battery.............ahh bliss.

More importantly - Where can one still find a working Drive-In?

We go to Dromana on the Mornington Peninsula.
Just like the old days.

Prospect/Blacktown Sydney. Much cheaper than the regular movies.

Playing around with my new D4 I found out it can play DVD's on the SatNav screen. Not sure if it turns off when you move, I'm sure it will.

No need to go to the Drive-In for me

I guess they can get enough people to drive ins interstate to keep them going...

I think even the last remaining one in Adelaide shut some time ago...

Ahhh the memories

Wallis Mainline Drive in at Gepps Cross in Adelaide is still going strong. Take the kids to a movie there quite often. Usually $20 per car so works out quite cheap, sometime various movie deals make it even cheaper :).
