Well back early "Not happy Jan"
I'll keep my report quick
"Awsome points"
Fantastic venue & weather
great company and turnout
Good tracks
Great pork roast on Sat night "thanks princess"
Custom made solar panel worked a treat
Local sawmill full of Macgyver fixing solutions
"not so awsome points"
The isuzu ate the intercooler on the way down
Couldn't pick a decent line all weekend
Jinxed Greg & myself with tyre problems
My daughter was sick the whole weekend
Conciquently had no sleep
Engine ran extra hot with no intercooler (110deg all the way home) mind you I turned the fuel back up for overtaking and left the AC on----it was hot!!!!!!
Having eaten the intercooler for entree, the Isuzu then decided to eat the gearbox.
RIP R380, 8 years and just over 1000 hours of Isuzu torture
"Future Awsome points"
There will be more trips
Isuzu truck gearbox conversion pending
I can leave the kids at home
"future not so awsome points"
Having time to do trips
Affording the truck gearbox conversion
Convincing Kathryn to keep the kids at home.
Off for a Bigfella nap

Sorry to hear of your issues Justin, the Coffs curse strikes again. On the bad driving side of things, I'm going to have issues when I start playing again I reckon. It's been a while since I've done any real wheeling (Fraser is a SCT). Wish I could join you lot, roaring away in the Rangie.
I've been gone 3 weeks and I miss the club already :(.
Look forward to the pics.

Too true Trav
Its sure shows when you only do a couple of hard trips a year mate. Need more time for trips to get the "mojo" back.
Missed you at Coffs mate.

What a great trip...:)
Just like to thank everyone who came along to make my first attempt at being trip leader a pleasure, no hassles or problems from anyone at all.
The tracks were mainly steep slippery climbs with triple peak being my favorite, Johns hill was very steep with winching needed to get up the last section.
The three bears off Englands rd were some fun, if not a little narrow in parts. I'm sure I saw my tyres driving against the sides and not touching the ground below a few times;)
We also tackled Koala trail which was a challenge due to the steepness, deep ruts and big holes. Must say that Tim and Greg drove it very well, with Gary showing how much side angle the jeep could handle at one point:o
Some tracks needed the chainsaw to remove fallen trees and other tracks really needed a bulldozer to re-open them, luckily we had Gaz showing his adventurous side plowing down some very dense overgrowth with his bullbar.
One track in particular was so bad we couldn't even tell there had been a car through there, no turning back either as everything that had been pushed down would spear straight into radiators.
Campsite was excellent with good facilities and a refreshing swimming hole, it has one of the best shelters with a fireplace under the sloped roof which lets the smoke out and lights fitted that you run off a generator.
There was some carnage like Rat's a-frame mount on the axle peeling open like a sardine can, Skiboy's torn off brake caliper and roof lights, and Greg's snorkel came off second best to some nasty vines.
Other than that I think everyone had a good time and I'm looking forward to the next trip down there, exploring other parts of coffs which we haven't covered yet.
Thanks again to everyone who came down,
Eric

Yep got home no problems, have just been waiting for this to happen, it was just a matter of time.Bad vibs in 5th gear at low speed high load
The intercooler had one side basically torn off it. Intercoolers must be body mounted on these engines. Not engine mounted like mine.
was a good w/end overall

Aww yeah......says the apprentice Extreme lad :D. As most of you know...I lost my Dad 6 weeks ago....so getting away with an awesome bunch of people was just what the doctor ordered. In simple terms...I had a FREAKIN AWESOME time. Big thanks to Big Fella letting me be his passenger....although I did forget to breath a few times. But the seed is sown...me want play toy too. Also thanks to brother Rod for letting me be his passenger today.
The tracks, the Landies ( Erics beast is nothing short of amazing and that takes nothing away from the other vehicles as they all performed brilliantly in terrrain you would be hard pushed to walk), the location was great...but what made this trip and any of the good ones I have been on................its the people.
Was great catching up with old mates and getting to know more about new mates...thanks for sharing and thanks for letting a middle aged bloke shed a tear or two without feeling uncomfortable. Not that I was a wreck the whole weekend....most of it was good laughs during the day and ****s and giggles in the evening. And the arvo/evening creek get togethers was...well what happens at camp..stays at camp .
Thanks again to all who were there.......here are some of the pics I took with my phone...forget the decent camera...duh........too tired to put comments.....

You have to do this trip again next year, fiit it in somewhere. I was planning on making a trip up north next year sometime, I want it to be worth it
Good to see a couple of new faces on the Coffs trip, in general it was good to see from a distance a great turnout

A great weekend away - thanks Eric for leading (and helping 'fix' the caliper so we could drive the last day. Thanks Gaz for the tracks.
Sorry to hear the news Justin - as you say wear and tear eventually catches up.
Will post some pics maybe tonight - had to prep for work last night so no time. Thanks for the pics already up.
I was so sleep driving back we had to stop at Grafton and Balina for coffee/refreshments and a break.
Rach really enjoyed doing some driving too.

We arrived in Coffs at about 6pm Friday night, with a thunder storm positioned over the hills we were planning to drive the next morning.
Discussion over a nice Thai dinner in town was all centered on how slippery John’s Hill would be and how I really wanted to do the top of Koala; Which I really wanted dry to be any chance, mumble mumble, stupid storm.
We headed out to Mr Lowe’s place, had the necessary chat and we finally arrived at the camp grounds around 9pm, everyone was around the fire so we headed over, Stevo was nodding off already, I could not help but look around for Trav in a nod off competition with Stevo. (Miss ya Trav)
Bright and early Saturday Morning in the new tradition of an Eric trip, we departed camp at 7am sharp. Over Prior’s road, (a bit of a disappointment because the grader had been through) to the Three Bears. Nice warm up for Koala. I was Super stoked to do the Top Section. :MileStone: Everybody who did the top drove very well.
We had some lunch whilst we attempted to navigate to Eagle’s (without any highway):coplight: we nearly made it, drove down Big Boambie but missed a turn and wound up at the Tower instead. Eric and I had a go at the side track off the top of Eagles up the back of the tower (fun)
We met up with the others at sixes road and headed off for Triple peek. We went via John’s road, which must have got some of the storm because it was moist, and slippery. Winches needed.
As Eric returned down Triple Peek I thought his face was going to break, he and Pete must have had fun because the smiles went from ear to ear.:ohyes:
After Rod kindly donated some engine oil to the Mongrel we had a chop, when we came back, the bottom of the track had had the skin stripped from the first two cars, making it very slippery for the remainder who had been having lots of “fun” trying to climb.
Back to camp was the decision; we had some “Try Latter” way points off Peek Trail, so on the way home we gave them a nudge. The first went well so inspired we had a go at a second, this kinda turned out to be a bit “Bright Orange”. Basically it was a motorcycle track which we opened.
Sunday 7am sharp we left again on another adventure, Henry had given me a talking to, along the lines of “Wayne is a bad influence on you” that and it being go home day we went on a black to red run around Mr Lowe’s place, ending up at the wrong end of Fridays Creek road. The bit which for the last three years has been impassable; not any more!!!
With Wayne suggesting angles of attack at the bush and Henry mumbling in the back about peer group pressure, Pete on the chain saw (all practiced up from yesterday), we got through to the camp site.
We had missed a hill we call Tyre off, maybe I lost a tyre there once, so with some time up our sleeves we took the freeway back and gave it a nudge, being dry it turned out not to take the two hours we spent on it last time.
Pack up and departure was at the allotted 12 o’clock
Sorry for the GPS errors at times, hope the U-Turns were not too frustrating.
Thanks to Eric for doing the leg work, thanks to everybody who came along made a great weekend happen.
South Coffs is known as the harder side of town, which explains why we were often traveling the road less traveled. Maybe next time we will do more North side. Mr Lowe did finally reveal the location of “Suicide Track” (not on any map) that might be worth a look along with the Zephyr (also not on a map)
I wonder if the folks who live a Coffs know how lucky they are to have so much great driving (of all levels, :ninja:we went G4 remember:ph34r:) so close.
Pete at the risk of posting another picture of a Jeep on the forum did you get a picture of the “Twig” which got stuck under the Jeep during one of the GPS U-Turns :wasntme:

Hey guy's
What a great trip, i had loads of fun, sorry we couldn't make it out on sunday hopefully next time.
great group of people and an awesome line up of 4wd's, i thought i had got away with only abit of minor panel damage but it turns out something has let go in the front diff and has tried to escape out of the housing:eek:
looks like it might be time for a 24 spline centre in the front.
I plan to get out abit more on the south side of town next year so hopefully i can clear up some more tracks for the next trip:cool:
Thanks to eric for leading the trip and to gaz for keeping us on track:D
i have a few pics will post up soon:)
