Gday

The alternator is slowly dieing in the Landy

I'm looking at putting a 100A Disco one in

What are people experiences with aftermarket vs. genuine as far as quality and longetivity goes?

$440 Genuine Magnetti Marelli
$310 Aftermarket

Thanks

i fitted a 120 amp alt from ashdown electrics to my serpentine belt v8, was a good price and works fine,
direct bolt in didn't have to change a thing.

does the v8 one fit the 300tdi?
what about the tacho pick up?,

i ask as my 300 tdi tacho is wandering and most say that is a sign of the alternator nearly dead.

it can also be a sign of a single dodgy conneciton.

i've been out there wobbling wires and the connector dave,
yep, it is a bit loose, might crunch the pliers on the connector, thanks for the reminder.

So has anyone had any first hand experience with the Britpart or Bearmach alternators?

I bought my alternator from Karcraft in Silverwater (Sydney) for my 300TDi Disco for $315 delivered, I don't know whether it is an original 105amp Magnetti Marelli (and don't care) but I cant tell the difference when comparing together.
It has been installed for well over a year now and no problems, I was told (here on the Forum) that they were rubbish and would not last, so far so good, knock on wood, Regards Frank.

I adapted a Holden V8 120A alternator into my 300tdi. Bit of mucking around though. One for the enthusiast, otherwise stick with the MM bolt in from Karcraft Australia (http://www.karcraft.com.au/home.php)

Good folks to deal with and they have a lot of my money.....
