Hi I'm just wondering if there would be any problems running my 1996 3.9 V8 duel fuel with a snorkel. I'm only asking as any small adjustment with the gas system seems to effect it. I have it running ok:D at the moment and don't want to stuff it up (again:o). The gas system make is Landi-Renzo. Also should the small tap in the hose between the gas diafram to the air intake have any effect on the tick over.

Everything will affect the gas flow! The snorkel needs to have a balance hose connection from the back face of the converter to the snorkel connection at the air cleaner box. This way there's no difference with minor changes of air pressure in the intake due to road speed. The adjuster in the gas hose is mainly for the full power mixture adjustment, but yes, it will also affect the idle. The proper screw for adjusting idle mixture is on a spring on the converter itself. Mark it with a texta and move it 1/4 turn and check, keep the original setting noted in case you need to go back to it.

Hi bee-utey thanks for the quick reply not quite sure what you mean about a balance hose from the back of the converter, where would it attach? also the to adjust the tick over is it the brass screw on the side of the converter or the screw in the middle front. If its the one in the middle front It cant adjust all it does is take off the black plastic magnetic thingy with the two wires coming out of it (sorry not sure what its called)Hope the attached photo helps40972

You need to take the back off the converter, drill out one of the holes, thread in a 16mm hose elbow, plug any other holes, run a piece of heater hose to a 16mm fitting connected to the snorkel at the air box.
When you take the back off you see a thin rubber sheet. This moves a lever inside depending on the air pressure difference across the sheet. The lever opens up the gas flow. So you need the same air pressure at the back of the converter as the air cleaner intake. With the snorkel plumbed on the balance hose becomes a necessity. Without the snorkel they are just both under the bonnet so no balance hose needed.
As for idle adjustment, hold the adjuster in the middle while you tighten up the hex ring it sits in with a spanner. This tightens against the black coil. When it's tight you can adjust the idle by turning the knob.

Ah, then its the smaller renzo. The only idle adjustment is the one in the right hand side of the pic of the converter, where the black goo level leads your eye to.
