Fuel Tank Repairs

My 1986 RRC has developed a fuel tank leak. Fuel seems to be leaking from between the 'bash plate' and the attached tank.
Is there some fiendishly clever way of separating the tank from the 'bash plate' without launching oneself into orbit ? or is there some magic concoction that can be poured into the tank and swished around to seal it from the inside?
Maybe someone out there has one for sale or know where one can be obtained at a reasonable cost?

Not sure what you consider "reasonable" for a replacement, but there are some new ones on ebay starting at $160 depending on exactly what you need.

Thanks SteveG, for some reason I didn't even look on eBay, must be getting old. The $160 job looks the right one, pretty cheap though. 4X4 motors have them for $420 but I'm unsure if this seller, Blackburn4X4 is really an online version of 4X4 motors. Anyone out there dealt with this mob, Blackburn 4X4?

I have some POR15 fuel tank repair kits I wish to use in my tanks. That is a liquid that solidifies in the tank. If you use it, let us know how you go.
