Hi Folks
I have an intermittent problem with the parking sensors. About 2 weeks ago, they started giving a solid tone as soon as they where engaged. Because of the sound, I assumed the rear sensors where the issue. Used the ear to the sensor trick and sure enough one was not working.
Removed the rear bumper (easier that I thought it would be) and discovered a broken wire leading into the offending sensor. Ordered a new wiring loom (only £18 sterling) from main dealer and replaced.
On testing (key at position 2 and turning on sensors manually) all was well.
However, now when I engage reverse or the sensors manually, they only work properly 1/2 of the time. The rest of the time they give either a false beeping or a solid tone. I have listened to all the sensors, front and back and all are clicking away merrily.
Anybody any ideas?
(By the way, I have no problem not using the parking sensors, but find them very useful here in Ireland, where pedestrians insist on running behind the car as soon as the reversing lights come on!!!!!!!)
Regards
Ed
