How much do camping trailers go for in Australia? I'm just wondering as they are very expensive here, and there aren't many people that make them. A lot of the time people buy an ex-army Sankey trailer, strip it down to the chassis and build a new body on top.

Link doesn't work for me (could be work firewall stopping it). I got my CT from Castle Campers. It's a full offroad version with water tank, battery box, luxury kitchen etc and it was just over $9000 AUD. The trailer is made in Brisbane but the tent comes from China (like most of them over here). You can buy the tents on ebay and then stick them on top of the trailer of your choice.

There is a good variety of used ones on this site.
welcome to campertrailers.org website home to Australian off road camper trailers since 2001 (http://www.campertrailers.org/)
Or look on Ebay.
As you can see you can pay 8K for a new one or 50K.

Crikey. Still not cheap, but probably cheaper than here. Mind you, shipping one over would be a lot of pennies! I still think I'll be better finding a wide-track Sankey trailer chassis and building one from that. :)

There are plenty of good quality 2nd hand trailers for around the $4500- $6000 mark and even if they are 10 years old they are still better than some of the new chinese/ vietnamese made canvas tops.
For the UK you might as well buy a caravan as not a lot of offroading available over there.

No, there aren't any 'long-range' off road trecks available in the UK, but it would be nice to have for trips to Moroccos, etc. Also they are smaller and lighter to tow on the road than a caravan. :)
Plus they look cool.
