Some weeks ago, we visited a very important person in the history of Land Rover.
His name is Arthur Goddard and he is the Land Rovers' first Engineer.
After reading a newspaper article that we'd sent him on the ground-up restoration of our S2A 88", Arthur had invited us to visit him.
It was an honour to do so.
Our conversation with him and his son Chris was most interesting as the fascinating information on the early developmental years of Lode Lane, Solihull, flowed. All with tea and tea-cake, of course.
Arthurs' memory of those early years of the Series Land Rover is sharp and clear.
Arthur, a gentleman as you'd expect, delighted in inspecting our S2A. And we, of course, felt privileged to be in his company.
You can read about Arthurs' story in the book by author Michael Bishop:
'THEY FOUND OUR ENGINEER' - The Story of Arthur Goddard, the LAND ROVERS' first Engineer.
ISBN: 978-1-4567-7758-6
