Hi all,

I've just completed a bleed on the system and have noticed a few things.

1. ABS pump is much noisier than before.
2. I have no resistance on pedal until the last 2/3 of travel.
3. Pump doesn't kick in until about 4 presses.
4. It takes just over a min for the pump to cut out from fully
depressurised system. It use to take 40 secs.

I had issues with the number 6 step - bleed hydrolic pump. I opened bleed screw and nothing came out. I then got wife to press brake pedal and then open screw.....still nothing. WTF? Only way was to suck on tube and open screw to get some fluid out.

I suspect there is still air in the ABS pump. Any suggestions? Is the brake travel normal? Pads are a little on the low side. I have installed new accumulator.

Do I redo all the sequences again? I used nearly 2L of dot4 fluid to flush all the old fluid.

I just did my p38, put a kit in the modulator, bled system but pump was still noisy, it had run a long time with no fluid, changed pump assembly, a second full bleed and all is good

Was there any problem before or just routine bleed?

Car hasn't been driven really for about a year. I drove it from Sydney to Rockhampton and noticed the pedal getting harder and softer when braking. I've replaced the v8 motor + a lot of other things lol, so I haven't had much experience with this machine yet. Also put in a new accumulator and thought I should do a fluid replacement/bleed.

A little update from before....,

I've done another bleed and things are much much better this time. Pumps kicks out just on 40secs, takes 3 full presses then kicks in again.
Pedal feels right now. The pump is much quieter now however it gets noisier for the last 15 to 20 seconds until it stops. Fluid trickled out of pump on step 6 which is good.

Only took about 10mins to do the second bleed. Could there still be air in the system if the pump is getting noisier at the end when it's nearly pressurised?

G`day , the bleed at 6 should be just gravity so if that`s right now , that was probably where the the problem lay .

If the pedals not there straight away as in your first , it suggests air .

If me i`d go through the entire sequence a last time and then have piece of mind that as much as could be has been done .

Keep an ear on the pump , you`ll either soon forget about it or it will remind you .

I did a final bleed and got a little more air out, the pump is quieter again, and the breakes feel great now. Just over 2 liters of fluid used but worth the 3rd bleed. :)
