Good friend of mine is (rather suddenly) migrating to Adelaide... is totally non-mechanical - But with a reasonable income...:p

They've recently bought a D3 diesel, and so far its been well-behaved and maintained by a local LR independant guy.... who is NOT shifting eastwards.

He's heard the horror-stories that follow LR, so if we could give some pointers as to Who and Where are good LR independants - or even stealers if reasonably competant - I'd be most appreciative. - He's driving over this coming week, and settling in the Hahndorf area.

PM me if there are any blatant rogues that he should avoid...

Cheers and Thanks in advance.

PCB Landrovers - Pete does great work.. Very fastidious. Excellently priced.

Adelaide dealer - Solitaire, isnt bad either... At least as new car servicing goes...

Hahndorf is a beautiful place to live... The German Arms!... :twobeers:

Always has good service from Paul Stevens. Not a L/R agent, but knows lots about Landrovers - drives one himself.

Thanks Gentlmen.

I've passed on the info, along with the web-site address...and he assures me he'll be memorising the Owner's Handbook on the drive across.!

His Pride & Joy is a 2005 D3 TDV6 SE with the 2.7 litre engine.

The local (WA) indy has gone right through with his diagnostics and fine-tooth comb, and only some minor front-end work needed to be done. Otherwise in perfect nick.

Will be interested to hear how it performs towing a caravan over to Adelaide. - Taking 3-4 days.

Cheers and Thanks again.

James in Gosnells, who is not the least bit envious of the Wuss-luxury and frugal fuel habits he will enjoy.....

Hey James,

I've used Triumph Rover Spares in Lonsdale a lot who are not that far really from Hahndorf if you go the back way... they certainly know Land Rovers very well.

He's in for a great trip! Hope the auto has had the service done before committing to the Nullabor with a caravan. :)

Cheers.

After 4 years of D3 ownership and trying a few service options, I can't go past Sovereign Auto Services in Kent town.
Sovereign Auto Services - Over 35 Years Experience (http://www.sovereignauto.com.au/)
They only do Jaguar and Land Rover/ Range Rover and have lots of experience without the ripoff dealer pricing.
Also tell your friend to check out the Range Rover Club of SA when he arrives. We are a friendly club whose members drive everything from classic rangies to all model Discos and Range Rovers.:)

Brendon at British 4X4 is very good.

He also lives down the road at Strathalbyn so drives past Hahndorf on his way to 'the office', you might be able to arrange a pick-up to get the vehicle serviced.
