Hi everyone. I could use some help. My 2001 V8 Disco 2 was running great up until yesterday. It usually starts up immediately and runs great. Yesterday it did not start right away (a couple of seconds of cranking) but it did start. Last night it would not start at all. This morning, it started up and ran great. I went into the store and came out 10 minutes later and it would not start, after trying multiple times, for 20 minutes. Once it started, ran just fine for a while and then just died at a stop sign.

I am thinking fuel supply issue, but I am interested in hearing any opinions. If it is te fuel pump, is it a big job to change out? Is it in the tank or external? I would obviously like to start simple and work up to the more complicated/complex items.

Thanks in advance for the help.

This seems to have come up a fair bit recently ... and more often than not it's been the crank angle sensor.

You need to get some diagnostic equipment on it to see if any fault codes have been registered.

Fuel pump is in the tank. Go look in "The Good Oil" section .... everything you'll need to know can be found there.

When it stops, spray some cold drink on the crank position sensor and see if the engine will start again.

That's a waste of good beer!

[Edit] Oh, I suppose you could use water couldn't you?

Thanks for the ideas. It is currently starting everytime I go out and try. I suppose I need to drive it to warm it up and then see what happens. Although that requires me to be stranded somewhere! I will get a computer hooked up to it tomorrow and see what codes have shown up.

Thanks again!
