I have a 2006 Disco 3 S pulling a caravan that puts approx 280kg on the ball.which causes the back to sit low. I have been told it is not possible to fit air bags. Is there anyway of overcoming the problem?

I assume it is coil sprung - then what about a weight distribution hitch?

Just a suggestion,

Measure the width between the coil and then look up Polly or Firestone and see if they have an airbag suitable to fit it.

I have an old Disco 1 and I've got Firestone in them and its a firm-tight fit.

Good luck

Drop Matt Savage in the UK an email, he specialises in this kind of thing so may be able to help

There is not a lot of room between the struts and the springs, any airbag needs to be a skinny little thing.

This what you are looking at: 41178

I have Dobinsons heavy duty springs which are fine for towing my 1400kg van and are OK off road. If you only use the D3 on road you might want to look at some heavy springs but have them set to a lower height.
You do loose some ride quality.
The standard kit from Dobinsons is +50mm (unless the originals were old and sagged like mine, then +70mm).

Regarding the air bags, I haven't seen anything likely as yet, if you find something please post as I would l then go with lighter rate springs plus airbags.

Probably the simplest and most effective approach would be the load distribution hitch, I have used these prevously on various vehicles with good results.
