Anyone come across my Series 1?

A very long shot, I know, but I wonder if anyone has come across my Series 1 86 (picture attached).

There were a couple of distinctive points, likely to have stuck with it for a long time. One is the non-standard tropical roof that I made, the other is that it had fitted oil pressure and temperature gauges of the edge reading type, one above the other at the LH end of the glove box, to the right of the speedo. Not quite as distinctive, but still unusual, is that being an ex-SMHEA vehicle it had a capstan winch, seat belts, and a heater.

I traded it on a Series 2 at a car yard in Parramatta Rd some time in 1963, probably about June.

Was the rego CW(?)L 825? How long had you owned it? That number plate would have been issued late 1962 if in Sydney.
Dxx xxx were first issued in 1963. Do you have any other details - chassis no, etc?

This was a disposals antenna base. The multi-section antenna gave reasonable reception even in remote central Q with the valve/vibrator radio. The antenna was damaged when I failed to see it in the line of fire one day, and was not on the vehicle when traded.

CNL-825, and I bought it in 1962, about the middle of the year. I do not believe I have any numbers, although if I combed through a lot of old papers I might find a registration certificate, which should have at least the engine number. I rarely throw away papers like that, but finding them are another matter!

Absolutely! Far too long a walk back to camp. Our surveyors got bogged in almost the same place the previous day, and what I was doing was retrieving their vehicle. Having three of us, plus the capstan winch and a ground anchor meant I was able to get out and get them out (eventually).

They had got bogged shortly after lunch, and walked back to the camp. There were no hills, but it must have been well over 10 miles. They arrived about half an hour after the generator had been shut off, and the curses could be heard clearly a good while before they got there. That's a long way to walk in thongs! (No OH&S footwear rules then)

That is me, leaning on the door, by the way.
