I put a set of Cooper ATR's on my D3 18 months ago. 30k later they have plenty of tread but have gone right off, no adhesion at all in the wet. Anyone else with this problem?

Well, I have those on both the Disco and the TR but never had any issues like yours. They even performed reasonably well in wintery conditions (once, when I got caught by Mr Freeze before having changed to winter tyres).

Coopers are a great tyre and you will get years out of them. But their biggest problem is they are a hard tyre, that is meant to last longer. So they are hopeless in the wet. Off road they are great, craphouse on the road. Look into a set of BFG's or even Maxis good tyres.

My Cooper HT on RRC have also gone off. About 35K 50% tread in but I think 5 years old.
Not an issue in braking it seems but noticeably poor lateral grip on wet tarmac.

That's exactly why I will never use Coopers tyres again. I replaced a set years ago with heaps of tread left. Mine were very slippery on a wet downhill windy road (We used to go through Kangaroo Valley NSW regularly).
Each to their own though, some people love them.

I have a set on my D2 and they have gone like yours. They are of unknown age and half worn, but slide like mad in the wet, I am thinking of replacing them with Mickey Thompson STZs, and soon. My Defender has new ATRs and they are fine even in the wet. I have two friends that have had Coopers go off at mid tread depth, both with different types, one was STTs and the other was ST Maxx.

I've had mine (STT) for several years, no problems at all...

Yep - same here. Have half life Coopers on my 04 "Town" Disco and they are diabolical in the wet.
With plenty of round-a-bouts to negotiate down here in CBR, it really keep you on your toes with heart in mouth driving when it's wet!!
Tyres are also noisy on smooth tarmac but apart from that - no other issues in the dry or on the dirt.
(Have BFG muddies on my dedicated off road Disco though and can't recommend them enough!)

Have a look at Eldorado ztr sport suv or Lt
I think they come from the same factory but they are quite different.
I have had Cooper ATR`s and Eldorados over the years on my D2 and I think the Eldorados are much better on bitumen in the wet and superior on gravel.
The wear rates seem similar, around 60,000 Kms
