Here are some pic's of my Land Rovers from the 1970's

LWB Series 1 in the Flinder Ranges on our way to Alice Springs via Maree and Oodnadatta, October 1976.
My girlfriend (now wife) and I travelled to Alice Springs then back via the Stuart Highway, which was nearly all dirt,
and corrugated as hell, in those days.
The vehicle had a Holden 186 that I had fitted.
Honda XL 350 (1974 model) in the tub.

A great trip.

Cheers, Mick

Reminds me of back in the early 70's when a mate and I were doing a round Australia trip towing a 22ft Viscount caravan behind a 1968 2A 6 cylinder 109. Having to double shift down to low range on steep hills was a challenge without stripping the gears. Then we did an exhaust valve between Clermont and Charters Towers and almost shook the caravan apart on the corrugations. They were that bad that we broke a gas line on the 12V fridge from the vibrations. Spent a week in Charters repairing the exhaust valve and welding a crack in the exhaust manifold before continuing on to Mt.Isa.
