got a call over the radio at work that a snake was looking for a safe haven in the drive train of my defender
this is him entering the underneath of the defender

when i got out to the car park he had set up camp on top of the bell housing/gearbox
pic to come
after some prodding he decided to move along the engine
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2011/12/878.jpg
and set up camp behind the drivers headlight

a couple of more prods did not move him on so we decided maybe if we start the engine the vibration might make him more on
er nope he moved around a little and looked like he was settling in for the night
so we thought we would attack him from the headlight

this made him move....he poked his head up around the radiator, this is him halfway out

nearly out

What a beautiful snake :)
Good on you for carefully moving him along. I've heard of a few truck drivers killed by a Brown going for a ride.. looks like you got a cuddly python!

Beautiful snake you adopted there...
Glad it wasn't injured.

in 2010 at a display day for the car club im in, one of the members turned up with a python about the same length, draped over the battery on a Morris Minor Ute. a team of males gathered around to look and various bits of advice was being given as well as some of them trying to get the snake out (not me i was taking pics from about 10ft away) when one of the female members just walked up grabbed the snake and started to walk off with it to release it nearby when the owner of the Morrie said he had a bag for it to travel home in style at the end of the day

Seriously?
I gutted a tiger snake once when I was a bit short on tucker, but I thought the bone:flesh ratio not worth the effort of cooking it.
cheers

A Carpet Snake, wadda bewdy! Thanks for caring.
Caught a few in my life. The longest was a 16 footer, crawling across the Lions Rd in the rainforest on the NSW side in the middle 1970s. Luckily Dad had his tape measure in the car so we could verify how bloody long he was...LOL...it was not easy trying to straighten him out to measure him. Dad held the business end and I had to unravel him. Unfortunately, no camera.
