Hi all,
I've been looking at getting an f-Cubed solar water purifier for a while now.
// F Cubed // - Carocell Panels (http://www.fcubed.com.au/aspx/carocell-panels.aspx)
The Carocell 1000 and 3000 both retail for just under $400 inc GST.
Anyone ever used one and if so, what were your thoughts about it - such as durability, ease of use, etc.
cheers

Without having any non company facts to back up the claims, it's hard to form realistic and objective view.
I guess you can buy a lot of purification tablets for that kind of money, or carry a lot of bottled water in the space it would occupy.... the system seems pretty bulky by the pics so from where I sit, I'm not really sure it's evolved far enough yet to get onto my shopping list.
We carry about 100 litres of fresh water between the camper and a couple of jerries. Have never been that far away from a source of fresh water to have a problem ( there is usually 2 of us). We always have purification tabs with us just in case the water we can get is a bit 'iffy'.
Just my honest opinion:)

your opinion is noted although i'm not asking for opinions on which water purification method to use. i am aware of other methods of purification, the costs of other systems, the sizes etc. the main thing i like about this system is that it can remove salt (the companies claim) which alot of other systems do not. i'm aware of the size - being something that is more suited to mounting on a roof rack. i'm not looking at this as a single source for drinking water. it would compliment other water sources

G'Day BBad.
If you're looking for something that takes no power to operate and you're travelling in an area that will get adequate direct sunlight to maximise efficiency AND you don't mind the large space it takes up , then go for it. Solar distill is a great way to go.
But, if the above are an issue, buy a Mills Bank Canvas filter and a Steri-pen (UV water steriliser~$ 250).
And ALWAYS carry a large Dark garbage bag in your pack for Transpiration bag and a 2msq sheet of clear plastic for in-ground solar distil. Then you'll be set.
Cheers, Dave.

BBad, Just saw your reply. I say go for it for the reasons you stated.
OR you could make the equivelant for 1/4 the price.
Google for plans, plenty out there.
Dave.

Hi BreakingBad, I'm the WA Manager for F Cubed Carocell (solar water purifying technology).
Noticed your comments and thought I could help. Apologies about the lack of information from our company site. I have put up a new site to assist with my marketing efforts in WA. This includes blogs and more information.
I am presently gathering more testimonials and pictures and working to assist our new distributors of the product.
In terms of the results on water - 1 pass of seawater or high TDS 1,500+ ppm will deliver < 2 ppm distilled. Indepedent lab testing has been undertaken and is available. Check lab results on Technology - Solar Water Technology (http://solarwatertechnology.com/technology/), plus other performance data etc.
We make a 1 x 1 mtr size (C1000) which is popular in the camping space.
I haven't including pricing on these as yet, but will do shortly.
If I can be of assistance drop me a line via web or email dmann@fcubed.com.au
Regards, David
