I'm sure she will absolutely love the trip.
Our daughter, Sharon, spent 6 weeks sailing from Ushuaia around to Cape Town via Antarctica on the barque "Europa" early in 2007. Some of the photos she took are absolutely mind blowing.
For her it was certainly the trip of a lifetime.

Elisabeth was not happy with me last year. She arranged the trip for us both and then, after all that, I said I didn't want to go.

Just didn't want to go. I was keen to start then changed my mind. The cost was a factor.
I'm not really interested in travel any more. (I haven't even driven my Rangie for coming up on two months.)

Are you OK Ron?
No, seriously I'm asking if you are OK. It worries me when I hear of people not enjoying what they used to. It is a warning sign of depression.

Not too sure, myself. I don't post on here much and read very few posts. I'm an Admin on the RRNET and don't visit or do much there either. I'm thinking of resigning from that. I've been an Admin on that forum from soon after it was started. I'm not that interested in even leaving home.

Please talk to somebody Ron. It's not healthy to stop doing the things you should be enjoying, there has to be a reason.

I wish her a pleasant journey and happy return! If you ship your camera over to me I'll make sure it will cross the Arctic Circle as well. ;) Right now it's enough snow already down here.
Cheers

Antarctica - yep I;d love to. Anyone got the spare $20K required?
Ron - get out on one of the bikes mate. As you know it helps clear the mind as you have to focus on the job at hand, putting other things aside. It's like meditation - only faster.
And it doesn't count as travel, because that implies transport. Bikes aren't merely "transport"

Seriously, she will not be able to stop talking about her trip - all over Christmas and into the New year - What a great experience she is having right now.
Good for her Inc!

Don't hibernate Ron, get out and about. I give this advice based on watching my grandfather rapidly fade away while hibernating.

Come on Ron!!! get motivated, go for a long trip on the motorbike, take a trailer and camping gear with you.
I have done it in the early 90's for 8 months and come back home full of energy.
Perhaps then you can get a Purchasing Officer job and write a book with all the faulty good and how the company went broke :D :D

She done the trip with Carlos Pedro Vairo, the director of the Maritime Museum of Ushuaia?
He used to have a nice sailing yacht and explored all the canals in the tip of South America and with the icebreaker belongs to the museum used to go to Antartica.

G'day Arthur
Sharon did the trip on the sailing barque "Europa" -from memory it took 52 days to get to Cape Town. She got terribly seasick crossing Drakes Passage - it was a couple of days of very rough seas. She actually was part of the crew and took part in all the crew activities (including cooking a very large octopus that was given to them on one of the islands). Most passengers were encouraged to help with the day to day work.
They visited the South Shetland Islands and also Tristan Da Cunah.
If you look up the " barque Europa" website it shows the route for the 52 day trip. It leaves Ushuaia in February and arrives in Cape Town in April.
I was going to post some photos she took, but didn't want to hijack Inc's thread.
Cheers Erich

Thank you Erich for the reply, you are correct it is Inc thread.
Perhaps Inc can send his daughter a suggestion to see the possibilities to a an extra trip with the Ice Lady Patagonia
It would be an awesome experience and a good opportunity if she go to Ushuaia.

she is enjoying herself by the sounds of it..;)
OMG today was amazing! i actually got to stand on an ice berg in Antarctica!
ha so fun. I was so excited... we had anchored the ship in a bay and the weather is so hideous with zero visibility oooh which meant i saw snow for the first time too today!
anyhoo... we were cruising on the zodiac boats right up to big tabular icebergs, sighting minki whales...as you do..., listening to the silence and then we pull up to a flat iceberg and they let us get on!
