My wife has an iPad2, I have a Netbook.
For surfing the 'net, emails, etc, the iPad wins every time. The iPad syncs automatically and flawlessly with her iPhone.
The netbook is almost unusable outdoors, the iPad can be easily read.
For travelling, I reckon the iPad2 - it's lighter and it seems to be faster at browsing than my Netbook. ( I can't comment on the Samsung).

I can highly recommend the ASUS Transformer TF101 (http://www.asus.com/Eee/Eee_Pad/Eee_Pad_Transformer_TF101/). It's dual core, uses Nvidia Tegra and runs on Google's Android Tablet OS (Honeycomb) and should be able to be found at a really good price now that ASUS have announced the quad core equipped ASUS Transformer Prime (http://eee.asus.com/en/eeepad/transformer-prime/features). The kicker is that the Prime runs the new cross-platform ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) OS and the Transformer has been promised the same update in the very near future, so it's a win - win imho. The units aren't 3G capable by themselves but I use a Telstra Elite wireless modem, or simply tether my Samsung Galaxy S II to it for internet when out and about. For GPS purposes I have it running CoPilot and Oziexplorer for Android. I'll be happy to answer any further questions if you need it :)
