first comute to work in four years today so out came the roadie....

it was an interesting start as i went arse up on the tiles after taking two steps in my roadie shoes

than the first time i had to use the brakes i forgot i had no brakes....well compared to my mtb........doing 45km/hr i sailed through a stop sign eye wide open and suddenly remember roadie brakes are crap

no with the heart rate up i was on my way

21km avg 27.6km/hr (including 9 traffic light interuptions), must work out how to program auto stop on my GPS watch

surprised myself that i could hold 30+ on the flat........that was until the last few k's, ended up sitting behind a couple of girls cruisng along at 30, yes the view was nice but i ended up rounding them up. i did dodge one hill climb that i used to do years ag

not looking forward to this afternoon ride.....tis going to be a bit tropical

Good on you Weeds, good to see you coming over to the roadie side. Although I am sure we haven't converted you yet.:D 27.6 is a pretty good average, it's about what I achieve riding to & from work (30km each way) but my computer knows when I am stopped. I am sure you are a lot fitter than me though, with all you MTB riding.

Cheers, Mick.

I have been commuting for the past 12 years, getting a bit less regular and with the Sydney weather has been over a week since I last rode in but I did get on the bike this morning and rode in today as well, great way to start the day.

Had my work Christmas part last night so did not get home til around midnight but thought it would be a great way to clear the head before work.

I do pretty much 20km each way door to door and average between 28-30 km per hour, try and sit on the right side of 30 kph but with lights and Sydney traffic it gets a bit hard to keep the averages up.

I remember the first time I tried to stop my roadie in the wet, not fun especially coming form mtb discs. Much more careful now.

Always feel much better after a ride.

That's a good average for your first ride back Weeds!

I too rode the 20km to work on my road bike this morning :). It was a lovely morning - cooled down in Brisbane since we've been getting rain. I averaged 31.3km/h with a bit of traffic dodging and lane splitting, but thankfully magpie season is over and it's school holidays so there's half the traffic on the roads I travel. Joy!

The ride home into the mountains is a bit more uphill so that average drops a bit.
