Best Place To Buy A EGR Valve From In The UK?

Looks like my EGR valve might be stuffed. I was wondering if anyone has brought one out of the UK lately and if so where from and for how much?

I'm guessing it is more cost effective to buy from the UK then here?

I have just been through this pricing exercise - Aust is about $430 dealer a little cheaper than specialist (BMI). Second hand (and why would you) $175 from TR Spares in Adelaide.

What makes you sure the valves are playing up - I recently had EGR codes and a check engine light - hence chasing above infor but it turned out the passenger side connector to the EGR was playing up.

Thanks for the info guys, as my D3 is a early one I have decided to just get a blanking kit and turf the EGR valves altogether.

Which way are you going Terry, the BAS blanking kit of 4 plugs and you remove the pipes or 2 thin plates that you place between the pipes and the EGR valves?
With both you need to remove the butterfly from the inlet unit.

I fitted the 2 thin plates as with the engine cover off no changes are visible.
Hard to source these though.

I ordered the BAS four plug system which should arrive any day. I decided even though I have a Hawkeye that reads faults to get a second opinion and make sure there was no other issues causing the sluggishness. So I went to a new for me workshop in Sydney to have it checked out.

When the car sales own workshop fitted a new long engine under warranty a few months ago I asked that they fit a EGR blanking kit and new silicon turbo hoses etc. and quess what I got it back with everything stock standard and a undertaking that the existing hoses were fine.

Anyway what was found at the new workshop was the turbo intercooler hose was stuffed and about to burst/split. One new standard hose and a 1/2 hours work later the old girls pick up from a stand still is dramatically different and this has seen a big improvement in city fuel economy and small improvement in highway fuel economy so far. The EGR vlaves are still faulty but the change just from a new turbo hose on its own is impressive. I would strongly recommend that anyone with a D3 check out their intercooler hose for bulges and ripped webbing on the bend that can be seen from above.

I have had the D3 in for work twice since the new long engine was fitted, including the fitting of a new airconditioning pump recently and not one of the mechanics noticed the hose had bulging and was seriously out of shape, bloody incredible how these obvious things can be missed by so called experts.

TerryO , as you Know I just did mine , replaced the split hose and fitted the BAS EGR blocking Kit, What a difference that made !!! What you also must do is flush the aftercooler, Remove the Y-piece into the inlet manifold and clean out all the carbon/grit/sand and unwanted **** from in there, (Have seen them nearly half blocked off with buildup.) ,makes its easy to remove the Butterfly as well.Obviosly pull the MAP sensor and clean that as well as well as the air temp sensor in the air-box .After doing all this ,my 2005 160000K TDV6 outperforms the mates 2009 TDV6!!

Thanks 400HP, I will be booking the old girl in for the intercooler to be checked and cleaned after Christmas as there was some oil in the old hose. I was told it had been cleaned when the long engine was installed but hey they might have meant the outside of it. ...:mad:

I'm also going to get all the radiator hoses done at the same time just to be on the safe side.

As I said just changing the hose made a big difference, can't wait to see what the blocked off EGR's achieve.

Is anyone getting unwanted consequences from blanking their egr's. Mine has just been in for a service and I had one egr replaced. i reckon the other has to therefore be close to stuffed as well and considering whether now one has been replaced, i replace the other one or I just blank them both off.

Nope no issues at all, just remember it can't be done on the latter 07 and newer models. I have an 05.
