For those whose L322 has the dreaded dead pixel problem, I found this site from the RangeRovers.net forum - see BMW Pixel Repair - Missing Pixels in Display? We Can Repair it! (http://www.bmwpixelfix.co.uk/)
EDIT 14th April 2025: It looks like that site no longer exists.

Hi Guys,
Further to Ron's post, there is a chap here in Melbourne (Mordialloc) for those that don't wish to send their bits overseas for repair. He is able to repair both MID and IP dead pixel problems. The business trades as Autotronic.
The website is here (http://www.autotronic.com.au/)
Had my IP repaired about 18months ago and it's still going strong. Turnaround is about a day or so (plus shipping time).
I spent the several hours dis-assembling and re-assembling the dash and front fascia on my beast. For the $400 for the repair this was much cheaper then the $1600 plus fitting costs I had been quoted for a replacement IP.
Hope this helps some folk.
Cheers,
Iain

I used them in the uk aswell Ron, and I can highly recommend them. They had a quick turn around (they posted the repaired mid unit, the same day they received it), and didn't complain about my half a-- attempt at repairing it myself.

I'm in the middle of replacing the ribbon cable in my L322 instrument panel. I've had the parts for nearly 3 years. :)
I had no problem removing the left hand air vent and then the trim but the driver's side vent was an absolute pig to remove. After they were out, the dash top comes off easily. The instrument binnacle comes out easily, too.
I removed the gauge needles rather than do the hole drilling method.
I've stripped the instrument panel down and cleaned up the contacts on the PCB and the LCD panel. I think I'll do the reassembly tomorrow.
I'm a bit frazzled after first replacing the touch screen on my motorcycle GPS then starting this job. At least my GPS is working again. :D. Cost to repair - $6. Better than replacing it - waterproof bike GPS units aren't cheap. The only issue was that the touchscreen operation was 90 degrees rotated from the display. It took me a little while to work out why nothing worked as expected. Once I could get into the Settings screen, I was able to use the screen calibration to remap the touchscreen (remember those little targets you have to touch on the screen?).

Hi Ron,
When you got the instrument binnacle off, can you replace the globes or not.
My bottom left hand globe is gone and I'm thinking of pulling it out and seeing if I can replace the globe.
TIA
cheers

Yes, you can - very easily.
Are you referring to the bulb behind the oil service indicator? Mine doesn't illuminate either so I thought I'd replace the bulb. But the bulb is perfect. I'll have to investigate further.

Note: pics taken with iPhone so they could be upside down. :(
The back of the binnacle. You can see bulb holders:

Job done! :)

I had to remove the pax side A pillar trim to refit the dash end. The driver's side went in with no problem.
The foam seal on the air vents had disintegrated so I used some left over seal from when I did the P38A and redid these.

Hi John, mine was the same hence the reason for pulling my finger out and doing it.
I bought the kit from PixelFix in Hungary Range Rover dead pixel repair DIY instrument cluster LCD, MID, radio unit. - LCD display pixel repair ribbon - instrument cluster OBC (http://www.pixelfix.net/eng/rover.html)
It comes with a tool to grip the meter shafts so you can pull off the needles without destroying the meter movements. Check out YouTube for L322 pixel and you'll find several videos. At least one shows what happens if you try pulling the needles off without restraint the shaft.
They have videos on-line to view. The links and password are with the kit which has well illustrated instructions ( I can't give you the password, it seems to have expired)..
Note: before completely reassembiing the instrument panel, I tested it in the car just in case I had to move the LCD panel slightly to realign with the contacts on the ribbon cable. I didn't need to.
