AAAARRRRGGGGG
Whilst rushing to complete a rebuild of my vacuum pump (2nd welch plug to pop! :( ), I've managed to jam the boost compensator line against the block. Short story... after the test sprint to check alls well, big hole melted in tube, lovely turbo whine eminating from under bonnet.
My dilema is that I'm about to clock up 1000k's with the tribe loaded up, box trailer full of pressies.
I'll be able to source a replacement when I get where I'm going, am I right in thinking I'll just be starving the donk at high speed? Are there any risks for a long trip? Only hours to go...
:( Any advice greatly appreciated...

You will have boost leak, plug the hose. Can't be too hard to get a replacement hose even if you have to splice a piece into your existing one using some metal/plastic tube as an internal joiner, you could even use a cable tie to clamp the hose onto the joiner.

Yes without the compensator you will not deliver enough fuel to the engine once the turbo spins up and builds boost, which will be slower due to the lack of fuel. This will result in a loss of power. No real ill effects that I can foresee although I am no turbo diesel expert.

its going to cost you power not top speed.

simple fix is just to go and grab some 1/8th fuel hose cut the damaged line and then hoseclamp the fuel hose on as a jointer, It wont last forever but it will keep you going with full power available.

+1 to Dave's suggestion.

It only operates at 1bar (17psi) so you should be able to clamp a.n.other bit of pipe there & run with it as a temp fix.

Even without it, you'd be able to run. You just wouldn't have much power & probably a top speed of 80kph.
