So who here has the pleasure of working Christmas and New Year this year?
I'm doing both again, as I have the last 6 years ;)
In fact, in the last 6 years I think I've worked every single public holiday :o
Wife is on opposing roster at the moment too... So I wont see her till next year..... :(

Got a week off now and go back on Xmas eve, working Xmas day as well.
Xmas eve is the worrying one, being a Saturday everyone will be nicely plastered and causing trouble and vomiting everywhere.

I finish 2300hrs on Christmas eve, have Christmas day off (but on call for any fatal or serious MVA's - we have had one 3 out of the last 4 years, so odd's are against me).
Back on 0800 26th with shifts right through until 0500hrs New Years day. One day off (if you can call it that) then into it again for the rest of the week. I love this time of year.
If your Christmas and New Years involves road travel, please do so safely, don't drink and drive and always wear your seatbelt.
Have a Merry Christmas one and all....

Was supposed to be flying home Christmas Day .................
BUT ...
We've had a pretty serious fire up here and burnt one of our crushers a little bit. So now I'll be lucky if I get out of here before New Year. Another Christmas at Nullagine is on the cards. On top of all that, it's been 48 degrees or more for the past three days, and more of the same forecast. There's been some temperature records broken all over the North West the past couple of days.
Today, we have the pleasure of fabricating a steel grizzly on top of one of our feed bins - sitting up there all day lifting steel beams and welding them into some sort of bodgied up structure is not my idea of fun. ;)
Oh well - at least this is my last roster swing up here. Start my new role based out of Perth office straight after the new year. :D
Hope you all have a better one than we're having up here. :twobeers:

Owning a 24/7 business, we get Christmas day and the 27th off. Usually manage two weeks late January, early February. Being like this for 11 years.
Prior to this I have never worked Christmas day, Boxing day or new years day. Most of my working life I have had the whole week, 25th to 31st.
Dave.

Had a call to a smokey BBQ last night, obviously a neighbour with no Christmas spirit .
Currently managing an MVA/rollover on Heathcote road.
Luckily no injuries and the guys are only involved in the clean up, but another instance of volunteers giving up their Christmas Day for the community.
