Can anyone confirm if the side gears in ARB's salisbury and rover diff locks be swapped out with toyota ARB side gears?

Would prefer something other than ARB's (namely Ashcrofts - but no sal's yet), but I have these 30 splines here that I could use....

ARBs Rover difflocks and components are significantly smaller than Salisbury and Landcruiser versions, although Hilux may come close.
If you check Rick 130s post in the Isuzzu locker thread, it may be possible to swap ARBs LandCruiser and Salisbury gears.

I don't know Bill.

I'd check with ARB but the new Sals case is a D60 case, so you could use a D60 gear kit in an RD161 Sals locker but a Toyota 12 bolt case (40, 60, 70 Series rear diff) is a totally different part #, as are the cross shafts, etc.

Didn't you mention the old ARB RD20 Sals locker was based on the Toyota version ?

No Rick, only the sidegears and possibly the 4 pinion gears. The Sals carrier was larger than the cruiser one with larger bearing journals.

What about the McNamara sals locker?

As much as I have no time for Jeff personally (i worked for him a long time ago), I consider his difflocks to be the strongest and most hassle free on the market.
Unfortunately there is a question about availability or delivery times if available. Some prospective customers have died of old age whilst waiting for him to fill their orders:wasntme:

Yes I know that the proprietor is a person I'd rather not have to deal with on a regular basis. I booked my car in and they fitted it, had no delays just had to put up with the owner.

Thanks fellas. McNamara lockers are still an option.
