Has anyone had their roof lining and the uprights repaired and retrimmed and if so, can you recommend a trimmer and let me know what it cost please?

How "handy " are you?
Search headliner on Range Rovers (http://www.rangerovers.net) and there's a full run down on how to do your own... ;)
Don't know sydney prices, but I removed the "card", cleaned off the lining and dry glue then took it to a trimmer who reupholstered it and the sliding roof sunshade for around $150 all up. Took me about 45 mins to put it back in the vehicle.

I had my classic roof done by Jeff Squires, Motor Trimmer of Peakhurst, some years ago. Probably a decade and it has held up well. Was about $450 back then.
Whatever you do don't try to glue the material back on or use serrated pins as it will make more work and potentially spoil the job.

$110 to do the roof and sunroof here in Sydney. I didn't do anything except remove it and refit it. He did all the cleaning. I had it done last year (or was it this year) by a mob in Granville but I can't remember their name.
Do a search on this forum and you'll find the post.
While the pillar trims were out, I removed all the flocking and left them as clean plastic. They look good - certainly better than they did.

I just got a quote from a trimmer up here on the Northern Beaches:
$440 inc GST for the roof
$154 inc GST for the sunroof
Drive in at 8 in the morning and pick up at 5 the same day.
Tossing up whether to remove it all myself etc or just let him do it. (being time poor and all that...)

AA Motor Trimming in Granville:
AA Motor Trimming (http://www.aamotortrimming.com.au/)
I've had two done there (RRC & P38) and a mate had his D2 done there as well.

Hey Ron,
how long did it take to remove and refit?
$110 seems mighty cheap for the roof and sunroof... might be a trip to Granville on the cards...

I just rang "Granville":
$330 for him to do it all, or $130 if I take it off and give it to him for a couple of days. He said he doesnt do sunroofs...

I really need to do mine. I had a go at my Falcon ute. Doing a repair, not replacement. It didn't turn out so well. The glue seemed to soak through the material.
I might give this one a go. And do it properly. I can only screw it up :)

I can't recall how long it took. Not long - say a couple of hours. I can post some pics to assist in removing bits. Check (in my case I replaced) the sunroof water drain pipes whilst the roof is out.
He did my sunroof but I did remove the panel and took it with me. A mistake I made was not removing the finger grip in the sunroof. Do that so they don't do a bodge around it.

That's really good value. I paid $600 which included all materials, and also included covering the plastic upright trims - which I was advised were a pig to clean - and included the sunroof. All looks v nice now, as a RR should.
BTW, the sunroof rubber had leaked, the rear frame was rusted thru and had swollen so when he refitted it, it wouldn't close properly. New ones are no longer available, so a s/h one has been sourced. Rust? Sir, they all do that.

Can't seem to find any info/instructions on removing the headlining... any guidance?

Here's the headliner page on Range Rovers Net with instructions on how to remove:
Headliner Repair & Replacement (http://www.rangerovers.net/repairdetails/headliner.html#replacement4)
It all looks pretty simple and straightforward and I'm thinking I may have a go myself as mine is in a woeful state, so I had a look around and came across this on the Headliner Express website:

and
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2012/03/1258.jpg
WOW :D Now that looks pretty good and I quite fancy doing something similar to mine rather than replacing it with the nondescript colour that's currently there. I have a grey leather interior, so I'm thinking slate grey with the lighter trim.
Glue seems pretty straightforward with 3M 8090 adhesive. I used to use a lot of spray on glue in my early ad. agency days, so am familiar with the product. Does anyone have any experience with this glue that they'd like to share?
In getting the new headlining to bond, using a cooking technique for piecrusts, I'd have a bag full of chickpeas to weigh down thhe fabric as it sets on the roof mould.
I'm also thinking I can make some curtains similar to the W126 Mercedes in the same fabric for the rear passenger area - on second thoughts, that might be a bit girly for a P38 :banban:
I've also had a look around to re-flock (will I get away with this word) the vertical trim and there's loads of options out there. Lots of US hobbyshops and car custom websites carry stock and colours at not a lot of money.
Definitely up for having a go myself, the question I have; where do I source the headlining fabric?

G'day all, it's been a few years since I was doing these on a regular basis for jags and rovers but Daleys was a regular supplier of headlining materials.
Your best bet is to go for an unbacked or very lightly backed material with plenty of give. A stiffer backing will easily end up with kinks in sharper concave area's such as the sun visor cut outs.
Be sure your glue is a high temperature contact adhesive.
Cheers,
Dave.

I removed mine and had my trimmer glue it up for me. Cost $100 or there abouts including the sun roof. Had it done the same as the pics above, black lining, cream trim. Apparently my trimmer says the problem with Range Rover roof lining material is that it's wider than the standard width rolls of material, so you need to buy the extra wide stuff. He had some black laying around in extra wide so I was all good.
Cheers,
Keels.

I did mine myself on my classic Rangie a few years ago, it came up like brand new.
I just took my time and did it slowly over a day.
I can't see the P38 being a whole lot different.
I was able to find the exact same headlining material in the same colour as original and also purchased the proper 3M spray adhesive.
There will be instructions if you have a look around, I'm sure someone has done it before.

OK, I have just done most of it myself.
2hrs to pull it all out. I dropped the sunroof onto the headrests, thus avoiding disconecting the drain pipe zip ties, and as I did it all myself, I figured the sunroof may be a tad heavy to completely remove. (the trimmer told me that he just removes the glass and bends it in...)
$220 at the trim shop, did it in a day. (he does the headlings for the local LR guy aswell)
about 2 hrs to reinstate and I am more than happy with the result.
Hints:
Take your time, try not to force anything otherwise you may break the odd little clip, or the little lever that you adjust the seatbelt height with:angel:
Getting the sunroof clips back in place is a little fiddly, just getting the sunroof panel back in took 40 minutes (including bolting the sunroof back on.)
Put everything in a bucket so you don't loose anything, infact, I have to plactic plugs left over?
Anyway, easy done!

Be aware that it's easy to break the sunroof clips:
