So I have to ask the question since I know there are a number of members around me in the Eltham area..... Has anyone been flooded in?

For anyone that doesn't know we had over 50mm [top of the gauge] in less than an hour, our pool was overflowing !!!!! The water running off the blocks around us was the problem and around our house was only around 10mm off coming inside...... was quiet scary tbh. Our neighbors didn't fair so well and they have had their 2 month old carpets soaked and to top it off their is more rain on its way

The main road in Eltham was closed off with the traffic bridges getting flooded, I'd bet that the bridge into Diamond Creek has also flooded and cut them off.... There has been a massive accident on the main road of Eltham as well.... and all this came after hail nearly as big as golf balls.... which made some nice holes in our polycarbonate out the back. Luckily I made a mad dash and cleared a spot in the garage and got the old girl inside :)

So yeh, we're all fine at the moment but has anyone else had any trouble?? I'll try and get some pictures / video up later... not high on the priorities atm.... Merry Christmas though and hopefully not many of you have had any damage or been stuck out in the rains trying to avoid it!

Sitting at Sydney airport waiting to get back to Melbourne... already been delayed 1 and a half hours. The landy is sitting in the driveway in Diamond creek at the moment.... hope she and the dogs in the yard are okay!

Saw the news earlier, sounds like the north west got hit worse.... They had "tennis ball" sized hail according to the news. They think the damage bill is going to be over 1 billion!!!! Makes our troubles seem almost trivial...

Im in alexandra and we just got hit hard. Water came down so quick the stormwater drain out the front couldnt keep up and we had a few thousand litres come down the drive straight into the shed! House is ok but shed had 3-4 inches through it. Laid a wooden sleeper across the drive to try and divert the water. About 2 metres of blue metal off the drive and piled up against the new fence! Will assess more damage in the morning. Bum. Crappy end to christmas.

Hopefully there isn't to much damage in your Shed!!!!!!

I was freaking out it would make it into our garage as its lower than the house, thankfully it never managed to flow down the stairs to the door. We're canceling holiday plans to clean up the mess here, the pool will take days to clean out and weeks to clear up and get back to normal. However the more I hear, the more I think our problems are trivial.

Yes our daughter rang us to tell us about the hail, she was out, not sure where, and was hoping her car was OK at her home in Carleton:(

Rain and hail we copped it all driving from our lunch to our dinner. Rain started when we were in Greensborough and didnt stop until we hit about High St on Eastlink. Was really really bad around Eltham and then again around Doncaster.

Was a long drive with an 11 week old baby who due to how loud the rain and hail was hitting the car screamed the whole way!

Had a well earned scotch or 6 at dinner :)

She should be ok. I'm about 3-4km away in West Brunswick. While we had heavy rain and hail, the hail stones were only probably the size of large peas. Nothing as extreme as in the North and North East.

Returning home from Christmas festivities I had to drive through torrential rain the whole distance from Cranbourne to Dixons Creek. Got to my turn off with only 5kms to go,no rain, gravel road was quite dry.Thought great we missed out.But just before I pulled up at my front gate it bucketed down for a solid half hour, so heavy that all dressed up in my Glad Rags I couldn't get out of the car to open the gate, as the car was sitting in fast flowing 20cm deep stream which is my driveway.
The bank on the hill side of the driveway was like a waterfall for the entire 800 metres. all drain channels were blocked and overflowing.
Had a walk around this morning. Not too much damage despite steady rain all night. The wifes Honda can still climb up to the front gate with some careful wheel placement. My 4wd play tracks are looking interesting.

G'day all.

Pretty much all okay up here in Eltham.

It's funny how fate works.

The gear lever in the Isuzu County just broke off and it's over at Ritters for repair. This left a spare spot in the garage and 2 minutes before the afternoon hail hit we moved my daughters car into it's spot in the garage:)

We were around at the outlaws in Haldane road for dinner and at one stage the road which sits in the bottom of a valley was a river

They sit halfway up a hill and at one stage the water nearly made it in through the back doors. It just wet the first inch or so of carpet and I will take the wet vac around later.

Our garage (which is attached to the house but lower) has had a bit of water through it as the gutters were blocked by leaves knocked off by the earlier hail storm.

Also had one power circuit knocked out (by water in a GPO in the garage I think) and of course it serves the fridges:( but got it back on line with an extension leadfor now.

Have rung the insurer who are arranging for their electrician to come and check it out. Not too long I hope.

So a bit of inconvenienece but faired relatively well compared with others :)

Think I've nutted out which one it is buy

Will empty it out this arvo

Was at GF's parents place for lunch right near Monsalvat in Eltham when the first one came through at about 4pm. Heavy rain and hail about the size of marbles. Blocked a couple of drains but not a huge drama.

We all went to Ivanhoe to continue the pagan pig out and drove through the second storm (about 6pm), which was pretty spectacular. Her parents got a phone call there to say water had been right through their house from this one. A foot deep downstairs.

You could see it coming on the radar but it was becoming less intense. Guess it arced up again over the elevated land on that side of town.

In some ways it was better that they were not there for the deluge and flooding because it would have been too much to try to deal with at the time.

They went home to sodden carpets and an insurance company not answering the phone.

I parked under a plum tree at Sunshine, lots of plummy bits all over the car but no dents :)

Was sitting on the sister in laws front porch wondering how many dents there would be, the hail wasnt too huge, bit smaller than golf balls. The sound.....was like a freight train!

We were right in the path of the brunt of the rain/ hail but luckily we are up a bit higher than Eltham and backyard slopes away to the rear.
The sound of the hail on our laserlite roofing was deafening and shows how tough it is as there was not even a buckle in it, laundry got about an inch of water in it as the drainage couldnt cope with the rush of water and a had a few leaks in the roof.
Pool got a top up rather quickly and surprising to me there are no noticeable dents in the disco's alloy bonnet.
Funny how less than 10 mins before the storm we were in the pool cooling off.

On boxing day we assessed the damage to our shed from the blocked storm water drain out the front and the foot of water down our driveway into the shed! Mostly just got into my wooded shelves, but they are old and crappy anyway. Filled the shed with leaves and dirt when the water subsided. Only thing to be really ruined was my bulk store of landy bits for the disco - all my air filters, oil filters and rotary oil filters are buggered! But cost only just comes to the excess for insurance so no point in replacing them.

Merry bloody Christmas.... grumble grinch.

My Fender gets assesed tomorrow, it looks like its got cellulite. Roof, four doors bonnet all hail damaged. My wifes freelander gets assesed next week. I'm really worried the'll write 'em both off and give us next to nothing. Both insured for market value only.:(
