I know this isn't an isuzu forum, but I was wondering if anyone has had any past experiences with Isuzu MUs. Im inspecting one tomorrow. The one is a 3 door 1992 Isuzu MU. It has the removable hard top and 226k on the clock. It is a 1999 import. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Tom

I had one and was funtastic. Economical, fairly powerful and reliable. Same 2.8 td as that era Rodeo. Great fun in the dunes and on the beach. Get some 31x10.5x15 on it (which look huge on an Mu) which you can get really cheap and plenty of options with brands. I loved mine till a family member wrote it off.

With the tires, If I put bigger ones on, is there any chance the MU will flip, being short and taller because of the tires.? I've never put bigger tires on a 4X4

Up until the 3.0lt Diesels,the Isuzu/Rodeo is ok,the 3lt is a pig,and they are uncomfortable(I have a 3lt 2wd dualcab work supplied) Mates 2.8lt 4WD has more grunt.Cab is still agricultural.

No. They suit the car fine. This size is definitely not huge, just look big on this size 4by, and readily available.

He's asking about an Isuzu Mu, not a rodeo. Same engine, different vehicle. They were a grey import from Japan.

I'd be looking very carefully into the availability of parts for it. The engine is just one part of the equation here and from what I can gather about older and rarer vehicles engine parts are the least of the worries. It's all the other stuff hanging on to the engine which can cause grief.
Good luck.

As grumbles said parts are the issue.I used to work on isuzu's and they can be a right pain for simple parts and some are not made anymore, but if the price is right and if it's what you want go for it. Pat
