View Full Version : Converting historic NSW rego back to normal

Good afternoon all!!

A few 'quick' questions for those who have probably been here before and can answer quicker than I can research:

I have just bought my first 109" Series 1 (1957) on historic NSW 'H' plates - proud moment!! :D

As the 'H' plates are particular to the previous owner (and cannot be transfered), it would appear I have to apply for my own 'H' plates but I could only then use her for 'maintenance' and for club meets.

No problem there but I would like to also like to use her at least one a week for a little work (that is my way of convincing the missus to keep her on the drive) so I will need normal NSW rego.

As the pink slip for the 'H' plates expires in July 2012, does anyone know if the pink slip is transferable or would I have to have her tested again?

If I need to get her tested again, any recommendations of a good Garage in Sutherland (NSW) that can test Landies of this vintage?

Many thanks

Actually you haven't bought a "109" Series 1 (1957) on historic NSW 'H' plates" you have purchased an unregistered "109" Series 1 (1957)". As you mentioned H plates cannot be transferred and the conditional permit lapsed at the moment ownership changed hands.

The pink slip has therefore also lapsed and you have to get a Blue Slip inspection to commence new registration.

Sorry I cant give you happier information.

As for Blue Slip inspectors, they are pretty thin on the ground, go to your local RMS Registry Office and they will usually have a list of inspectors in your area. Be prepared to find that the list is out of date and many of the inspectors having had their authority cancelled by RMS. Others you may find that require you to make an appointment several weeks away. This was my experience last January using information provided by Botany RTA, I ended having to go out to Moorebank, near Liverpool.

Frustrating as it may be, at least Monday is not too far away.

Congrats on the S1 by the way!
