With my old Garmin Nuvi now a brick and my old Garmin Vista showing its age I thought it may be a good time to invest in a new GPS.

I was initially drawn to the garmin GPSMAP62SC, then I stumbled across the Montanna 650T. This appears to be just as rugged as the 62SC but has a bigger screen that will allow for turn by turn instruction (to replace the Nuvi functionality when needed) and comes with a screen mount and a removable li-ion battery pack.

I primarily want the device for when out and about and not for a typical 'sat-nav'.

So, has anyone got or used the Montanna? Any thoughts or comments re either model?

Thx
Jon

I recently acquired a 62sc as an update from my 60CSX and for the geotagging of images and custom maps. Its great for images but I still find the custom maps a bit of a gimmick in reality. All the reviews I have read keep talking about the HUGE size of the Montana so if carting it around for walking is its main use I would probably go the 62SC over the montana.

If its mainly in vehicle then maybe the montana.
