Any medal collectors or military enthusiasts here that can tell me what the VG (or GV) stands for on the bottom of the WW1 1914-1915 Star?

I am wondering if it's George Fifth, but not sure.

Cheers, Mick.

Its the Royal Cypher of King George V, you will also find it on the barrels of British artilliary pieces and naval guns cast during his reign.

The same as you will find the Royal Cypher of King George VI on "A" barrels of Centurion tanks and the Royal Cypher of Queen Elizabeth II on the "B" barrels on the Cent.

Big "G", little "v" indicating King George V (fifth).
